1. THE INFORMATION SHOWN ON THESE DRAWINGS CONCERNING TYPE, ELEVATION AND LOCATION OF
UNDERGROUND UTILITIES IS NOT GUARANTEED TO BE ACCURATE OR ALL-INCLUSIVE. THE CONTRACTOR IS
RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING DETERMINATIONS AS TO THE TYPE AND LOCATION OF UNDERGROUND AND OTHER
UTILITIES AS MAY BE NECESSARY TO AVOID DAMAGE THERETO. ANY DAMAGE TO EXISTING UTILITIES SHALL BE

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
3. THE LOCATION OF ALL UNDERGROUND PIPING, FRANCHISE UTILITIES AND OTHER UN')ERGROUND STRUCTURES
AND UTILITIES ARE BASED ON ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION PLANS AND LIMITED FIELD SURVEY. THE CITY OF
DENTON ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAILURE TO SHOW ANY OR ALL OF THESE FACILITIES OR TO SHOW
THEM IN THEIR EXACT LOCATIONS. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO LOCATE ALL
AFFECTED UTILITIES, WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE SHOWN ON THE PLANS, TO VERIFY THE MATERIALS,
LOCATIONS, ELEVATIONS AND DIMENSIONS OF EXISTING FACILITIES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION OR PURCHASE OF
MATERIAL AND TO PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY PIPE, FITTINGS AND APPURTENANCES TO MAKE ALL CONNECTIONS
AS SHOWN IN THESE PLANS. SUCH VERIFICATION SHALL BE CONSIDERED SUBSIDIARY TO THE COST OF THE

4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DISTRIBUTE LETTERS TO ALL PROPERTY OWNERS PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK ON
EACH PROPERTY. THE LETTERS SHALL INCLUDE NAMES AND PHONE NUMBERS OF CONTRACTOR CONTACTS, A
DESCRIPTION OF WORK TO BE DONE, AND TIME FRAME FOR DOING THE WORK. COPIE:i OF THE LETTERS SHALL
BE FORWARDED TO THE CITY INSPECTOR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY OWNERS 18 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF
PERFORMING ANY WORK ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. DISTRIBUTION OF LETTERS SHALL BE. CONSIDERED AS
SUBSIDIARY TO THE COST OF PROJECT AND NO ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION WILL BE i�LLOWED.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VIDEO ALL POTENTIALLY IMPACTED PRIVATE PROPERTY AREAS PRIOR TO WORK.
VIDEOS SHALL INCLUDE DATE NOTATION AND AUDIO IDENTIFICATION OF PROPERTY AD11RESS AND LINE
DESIGNATION. THE PRE -CONSTRUCTION VIDEOTAPING SHALL BE CONSIDERED SUBSIDI/,RY WORK. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ONE COPY OF THE VIDEO TO THE CITY INSPECTOR PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
6. PROVIDE ACCESS FOR LANDOWNERS AT EXISTING ROADS AND DRIVES AT ALL TIMES. PROPERTIES WHERE
ACCESS TO EXISTING ROADS AND DRIVES IS INTERRUPTED MUST HAVE MULTIPLE INGR'=SS/EGRESS POINTS
AVAILABLE OR ALTERNATE ACCESS MUST BE PROVIDED BY CONTRACTOR. ALL PROPERTIES OCCUPIED THAT
WILL BE DENIED ACCESS TO THEIR DRIVEWAYS SHALL BE NOTIFIED BY THE CONTRACTOR TWO WORKING DAYS
PRIOR TO THE CLOSURE OF THEIR ACCESS.
7. THE CONTRACTOR'S PERSONNEL SHALL WEAR IDENTIFYING CLOTHING OR HATS AT ALL TIMES.
8. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE APPROPRIATE SIGNAGE, BARRICADES, FLAGMEN, ETC. REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN
SAFE TRAFFIC FLOW AT ALL TIMES. ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
TXDOT'S MANUAL OF UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES.
9. ALL STORM WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION MEASURES SHALL CONFORM TO THE CIFY OF DENTON
STANDARDS OR THE APPLICABLE GUIDELINES OF THE NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL. OF GOVERNMENTS WATER
QUALITY BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES FOR CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, LATEST EDITION OR AMENDMENTS, FOR
COMPLIANCE WITH THE NATIONAL POLLUTION DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTROL EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION PER THE APPLICABLE LAWS AND REGULATIONS.
10. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING GENERAL SAFETY AT AND ADJACENT TO THE
PROJECT AREA, INCLUDING THE PERSONAL SAFETY OF THE CONSTRUCTION CREW AND GENERAL PUBLIC AND
THE SAFETY OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE FROM THE PROJECT AREA ALL SURPLUS MATERIAL. THIS SHALL BE
INCIDENTAL AND NOT A SEPARATE PAY ITEM. SURPLUS MATERIALS FROM EXCAVATION INCLUDING DIRT, TRASH,
ETC. SHALL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE PROPERLY DISPOSED OF OFF-SITE.
12. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING STREETS AND SIDEWALKS ADJACLNT TO THE PROJECT
FREE OF MUD AND DEBRIS FROM THE CONSTRUCTION.
13. REMOVE ROCK FROM THE DISTURBED AREAS SUCH THAT IT IS LEFT WITH NO MORE QUANTITY OR SIZE OF
ROCK THAN THE ADJACENT LAND. ROCK IS REMOVAL IS A SUBSIDIARY COST AND WILL NOT BE PAID
SEPARATELY.
14. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH TEXAS HOUSE BILL 1569, EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 1989, TO
MAINTAIN A VIABLE TRENCH SAFETY SYSTEM AT ALL TIMES. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL JOB
SITE SAFETY AND SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPARING A TRENCH SAFETY PLAN FOR THIS PROJECT.
15. CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO RE -SEED ALL DISTURBED AREAS WHERE WORK IS SHOWN OR REQUIRED FOR
A COMPLETE PROJECT. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL DAMAGES TO PROPERTY OUTSIDE OF
THE EASEMENT LIMITS, INCLUDING RE -VEGETATION COSTS.
16. ALL REPLACEMENT VEGETATION SHALL BE WATERED DAILY FOR A PERIOD NOT LESS THAN ONE MONTH
AFTER RE -VEGETATION. CONTINUE WATERING AS NEEDED UNTIL THE VEGETATION IS RI__ -ESTABLISHED. THE
MAINTENANCE PERIOD FOR ALL PLANTINGS SHALL BE ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION.
IN THE EVENT TRENCH SETTLEMENT OR OTHER CONDITIONS REQUIRE REPAIR WORK TO BE PERFORMED BY
CONTRACTOR, THE MAINTENANCE PERIOD WILL BE EXTENDED TO ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE THE AREA IS
RESTORED AFTER THE REPAIR WORK.
17, NO TREES MAY BE REMOVED OUTSIDE THE PERMANENT EASEMENT WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE
OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE. THE CONTRACT AMOUNT WILL BE REDUCED BY $5000 FOR EACH TREE WHICH IS
REMOVED WHERE NOT AUTHORIZED.
18. CLEARING AND GRUBBING MAY BEGIN NO SOONER THAN ONE MONTH PRIOR TO PI'E TRENCHING
OPERATIONS. PIPE STRINGING SHALL BE NO MORE THAN TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO PIPE LAYING. BACKFILL SHALL
BE COMPLETED NO MORE THAN ONE DAY AFTER PIPE LAYING. CLEANUP AND SURFACE RESTORATION SHALL
BE COMPLETED NO MORE THAN ONE MONTH AFTER PIPE LAYING. THE SITE SHALL BE KEPT CLEAN OF TRASH
AT ALL TIMES. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS MAY RESULT IN WITHHOLDING SOME OR ALL
PAYMENT TO THE CONTRACTOR.
19. THE CITY HAS ACQUIRED PERMANENT AND TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION EASEMENTS AS SHOWN ON THE
DRAWINGS. THE CONTRACTOR MAY ACQUIRE ADDITIONAL TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION EASEMENTS AT HIS OWN
COST, IF HE SO CHOOSES. IF THE CONTRACTOR ACQUIRES ADDITIONAL TEMPORARY EASEMENTS, HE SHALL
PROVIDE COPIES OF THE WRITTEN AGREEMENTS TO THE CITY. THE CONTRACTOR SHAL_ BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE

20. CONTRACTOR SHALL BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN TEMPORARY
CONSTRUCTION EASEMENTS. UNLESS GRANTED BY THE PROPERTY OWNER, INGRESS AND EGRESS TO THE WORK
SITE SHALL BE ONLY THROUGH THE TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION EASEMENTS, EXISTING UTILITY EASEMENTS OR
R.O.W. IN THE AREAS WHERE NO CONSTRUCTION EASEMENTS ARE AVAILABLE, CONTRACTOR SHALL LIMIT
ACTIVITIES TO WITHIN THE EXISTING UTILITY EASEMENT OR ROW.
21. CONTRACTOR SHALL RECONSTRUCT IN PLACE AND WITH LIKE MATERIALS ANY DRIVES, ROADS, SIDEWALKS,
IRRIGATION SYSTEMS, FENCES, UTILITY SERVICES, OR OTHER APPURTENANCES WHICH ARE REMOVED OR DAMAGED
DURING CONSTRUCTION. UTILITY SERVICES WHICH ARE CUT OR DAMAGED SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY REPAIRED.
22. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING WATER AND SEWER CONNECTIONS IN WORKING ORDER AT ALL
TIMES. IN NO CASE SHALL SERVICES BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN OUT OF SERVICE OVERNIGHT.
23. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEAN UP AND RESTORE THE AREA OF OPERATIONS TO A CONDITION AS GOOD AS
OR BETTER THAN THAT WHICH EXISTED PRIOR TO THE PROJECT.
24. NO EQUIPMENT OR MATERIAL SHALL BE DEPOSITED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM
THE AFFECTED PROPERTY OWNERS.
25. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES TO BUSINESSES, HOMES, OR BASEMENTS FROM BACKUP
WHICH MAY RESULT DURING THE INSTALLATION OF NEW SEWER PIPE. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE ALLOWED TO
OPEN CLEAN OUTS WHERE AVAILABLE. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CLEAN-UP ASSOCIATED
WITH OPENING CLEAN OUTS AND FOR REPLACEMENT OF REMOVED CAPS.
26. CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN RESIDENTIAL AND FIRE ACCESS TO RESIDENCES DURING
CONSTRUCTION.
27. FOR ALL LOCATIONS WHERE CONSTRUCTION WORK AFFECTS ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY, CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT
A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN TO THE CITY FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO BEGINNING OF CONSTRUCTION. THE TRAFFIC
CONTROL PLAN SHALL BE PREPARED AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE CITY.
28. ELECTRIC COMPANIES TYPICALLY REQUIRE THAT SHORING BE USED IN OPEN TRENCHES WITHIN 5' (ANY
DIRECTION) OF DISTRIBUTION POLES AND 25' OF TRANSMISSION TOWERS, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL DESIGN THE SHORING TO ACCOUNT FOR ADDITIONAL SURCHARGE LOADS OF THE POLE AND
TOWER FOUNDATIONS ACTING ON THE SHORING. THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR DESIGNING ALL
SHORING AND FOR PROTECTING ALL ELECTRICAL POLES AND TOWERS.
29. WHERE THE RELOCATION OF OVERHEAD ELECTRIC POWER POLES AND GUY WIRES ARE REQUIRED TO INSTALL
NEW IMPROVEMENTS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE RELOCATION WITH THE ELECTRICAL COMPANY AND
PAY FOR ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ACTIVITIES. OVERHEAD ELECTRIC POWER POLES AND GUY WIRES SHALL
BE RELOCATED TO NOT CONFLICT WITH THE NEW IMPROVEMENTS AND SHALL BE PLACE WITHIN THE STREET R.O.W.
OR A PUBLIC UTILITY EASEMENT. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TEMPORARY SUPPORT OF ALL POWER POLES WITHIN
15 FT. OF THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION, OR WHERE TEMPORARY REMOVAL OF GUY WIRES IS NECESSARY FOR
CONSTRUCTION. FAILURE OF THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS TO SHOW EXISTING POLE LOCATIONS DOES NOT REMOVE
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO RELOCATE OR SUPPORT POWER POLES.
30. FOLLOW OSHA (OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION) REGULATIONS AND WORK A SAFE
DISTANCE FROM ALL POWER LINES. WHERE CONSTRUCTION IS NEAR OVERHEAD LINES, OSHA REQUIRES THAT THE
POWER LINES BE DE -ENERGIZED AND GROUNDED OR THAT OTHER PROTECTIVE MEASURES ARE TAKEN BEFORE
WORK IS STARTED. OSHA HAS PRESCRIBED CERTAIN DISTANCES THAT WORKERS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT MUST BE
KEPT FROM OVERHEAD LINES. A DISTANCE OF 10' SHALL BE MAINTAINED FOR ALL POWER LINES OF 50,000
VOLTS OR LESS. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE THAT ALL PERSONS WORKING ARE AWARE OF THE
LOCATION OF ANY POWER LINES, THE HAZARDS INVOLVED, AND THE PROTECTIVE MEASURES TO BE TAKEN.
CONTRACTOR MUST POST WARNING SIGNS AND ENSURE THAT ANYONE WORKING FROM AN ELEVATED POSITION
STAYS OUTSIDE THE MINIMUM APPROACH DISTANCE. COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH WORKING SAFELY AROUND EXISTING
POWER LINES SHALL BE BORNE SOLELY BY THE CONTRACTOR AND WILL NOT BE REIMBURSABLE BY THE CITY.
FAILURE OF THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS TO SHOW EXISTING POWER LINE LOCATIONS SHALL NOT CONSTITUTE A
BASIS FOR A DELAY OR COMPENSATION CLAIM BY THE CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE SAFE WORKING CONDITIONS.
31. FENCES, GATES, GROUND SURFACES, ETC, SHALL BE LEFT IN A CONDITION EQUAL TO OR BETTER THAN THAT
FOUND. ALL FENCES SHALL BE REINSTALLED IN ORIGINAL LOCATION AND OF SAME TYPE UNLESS OTHERWISE
DIRECTED BY CITY.
32. CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND INSTALL PIPE DETECTION TAPE OVER ALL SEWER LINES INSTALLED. THE
PIPE TAPE SHALL CONTINUOUSLY INDICATE THE PRESENCE OF BURIED SANITARY SEWER PIPE UNDERNEATH. THE
PIPE TAPE SHALL BE INSTALLED ON TOP OF THE GRANULAR PIPE EMBEDMENT (18" ABOVE THE PIPE), OR AS
SHOWN ON THE PLANS, ALONG THE CENTERLINE OF THE PIPELINE.
33. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE NECESSARY PROVISION FOR THE SUPPORT AND PROTECTION OF ALL UTILITY
POLES, GAS MAINS, TELEPHONE CABLES, SANITARY SEWER LINES, ELECTRIC CABLES, DRAINAGE PIPES, UTILITY
SERVICES, ALL OTHER UTILITIES, AND THE STRUCTURES BOTH ABOVE AND BELOW GROUND DURING CONSTRUCTION.
THE CONTRACTOR IS LIABLE FOR ALL DAMAGES DONE TO SUCH EXISTING FACILITIES AS A RESULT OF THE
CONTRACTOR'S OPERATIONS.
34. IN GENERAL, MAINTAIN 2' MIN. VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN SANITARY SEWER AND WATERLINES AND 1 FT.
MIN. VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN SANITARY SEWER AND STORM SEWER AT CROSSINGS.
35. CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE AND PRESENT A PLAN TO THE CITY ON HOW TIE-INS BETWEEN EXISTING
LATERALS AND THE NEW SANITARY SEWER SHALL BE COORDINATED. NO EXISTING LATERAL LINES WILL BE
ALLOWED TO REMAIN UNCONNECTED TO THE COLLECTION SYSTEM OVERNIGHT. TEMPORARY TIE-IN WORK SHALL BE
SUBSIDIARY TO THE COST OF PIPE INSTALLATION AND WILL NOT BE PAID FOR SEPARATELY.
36. CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE AND PRESENT A PLAN ON HOW TO SUPPORT WATER, STORM DRAIN OR OTHER
LINES THAT SPAN THE CONSTRUCTION TRENCH PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY WORK OF THE PROJECT.
37. EXISTING IN-SERVICE MANHOLES ARE TO BE PROTECTED DURING CONSTRUCTION. ANY DAMAGE TO IN-SERVICE
MANHOLES CAUSED BY THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REMEDIED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT NO COST TO THE CITY.
38. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PAVEMENT REPAIR PER THE STANDARD DETAILS FOR CONSTRUCTION LOCATED IN
THE STREET.
39. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH RELOCATION OR TEMPORARY SUPPORT
OF POWER POLES. THIS IS TRUE EVEN IF THE PLANS DO NOT SHOW THE POLES IN QUESTION.
40. SERVICE LINE LOCATIONS ARE APPROXIMATE. CONTRACTOR IS TO VERIFY ACTUAL LOCATION IN FIELD PRIOR
TO INSTALLING NEW SERVICE LINES. NO PAYMENT SHALL BE MADE FOR REINSTALLATION OF SERVICE LINES DUE
TO CONTRACTOR OVERSIGHT OF THIS NOTE.
41. EXISTING SERVICES MAY NOT MATCH TO SIZE OF NEW SERVICE LINES. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY
