The following additions, deletions, modifications, or clarifications shall be made to the appropriate
sections of the plans and specifications and shall become a part of the Contract Documents. Bidders
shall acknowledge receipt of this Addendum in the space provided on the Bid form.
QUESTIONS:
NOTE: Any questions from IONWAVE not answered in this addendum will be answered in
subsequent addendum.
1. At stations 1+00 and 43+24.93, what type of pipe is existing 42” waterline?
a. Pipe at 1+00 is polyurethane coated steel. Pipe at 43+24.93 is bar wrapped pipe.
2. There is only one bedding detail shown in plans while both flexible and semi-rigid pipe are
specified. Will a separate bedding detail be provided for semi-rigid pipe?
a. For 42” pipe, contractor to follow specification 31 23 33.16 in contract documents. For
12” pipe, contractor to follow City of Denton Standard Details.
3. Plans & specifications call for restrained joints for bar wrap pipe to be welded joints. Are
mechanically restrained joints like harness clamps and Snap ring restrained joints acceptable?
a. Joints must be welded. Per 33 05 01.05 2.03 E Harnessed joints may be used in lieu of
welded joints adjacent to structures, if approved by the Engineer.
4. Plans call for minimum pressure class of 42” pipe to be class 200. Plan sheet DT-8 shows thrust
blocks sized for steel & DIP at 200 psi and for Bar Wrap pipe at 150 psi. Specification section 01
45 16.16 specifies a hydrostatic test pressure of 100 psi. Pipe specifications 33 05 01.05
2.03A.2.a and 33 11 13.13 2.03A1.1 both appear to define pressure class as working pressure.
Please clarify if working pressure is equal to 200 psi or if it is possible that total transient (Pw +
Ps) is equal to 200 pi.
a. Pipe shall be Class 200 psi as shown on plans.
5. Would you please clarify if the Butterfly valves are to be 150B,Rubber seated flanged (33 12
16.26 - 2 2.01 A) or Wafer body style between 2 - 250# flanges (2.01 B) ?
a. Butterfly valves are to have rubber seats. Butterfly valves are to be 250# flanges.
6. Can a sign-in sheet for the Pre-Bid Construction Meeting on November 7th 2019 be added?
a. See attached Pre-Bid Construction Meeting Sign-In Sheet.
7. Can the headings of Addendum 1 and Addendum 2 be updated to “NORTH-SOUTH PHASE III 42-
INCH WATER TRANMISSION MAIN”
a. See attached Addenda
