SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager, to execute a contract with Jagoe-Public Company, for the construction of the
Airport Landside Paving project for the City of Denton for street segments as follows: John Carrell, Spartan
Drive, Lockheed Lane, and Skylane; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an
effective date (IFB 7239 – awarded to Jagoe-Public Company, in the not-to-exceed amount of $855,163.75).
IFB INFORMATION /BACKGROUND
The Airport Landside Paving Project will reconstruct four (4) roadway segments interior to the airport
providing access for citizens, business, fueling, and delivery trucks. These new full-depth asphalt roads will
be able to accommodate commercial trucks and, with the installation of ribbon curb, assist with drainage.
The engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost (OPCC) for the project was $1.2 million. The low
bidder for this project, Jagoe-Public Company, appears to meet all the necessary requirements for
qualification on this project.
Invitations for Bid were sent to 338 prospective suppliers of this item. In addition, specifications were
placed on the Materials Management website for prospective suppliers to download and advertised in the
local newspaper. Nine (9) bids meeting specifications were received. The lowest bid was submitted by
Jagoe-Public Company.
