Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information Sheet PUB City of Denton ______________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Materials Management CM: Todd Hileman DATE: July 9, 2018 SUBJECT Consider recommending adoption of an ordinance accepting competitive bids and awarding a public works contract for the construction of the Eagle Drive Drainage Improvements Phase II Project for the City of Denton; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (IFB 6792- awarded to the lowest responsible bidder meeting specification, Jagoe- Public Company, in the amount of $2,057,289.20). BID INFORMATION The Eagle Drive Drainage Improvements Phase II Project consists of the construction of 439 lf of 16’x7’ Cast-in-Place (CIP) Box Culvert plus approximately 400 lf of storm drain (18’-48”), inlets, junction boxes, sewer line improvements, water line improvements, and the roadway reconstruction of Eagle Drive from Carroll Blvd to Elm Street and a portion of Myrtle. An 8’ sidewalk will be constructed along the north side of Eagle Drive and along Myrtle to connect with the existing 8’ sidewalks. The drainage system will be built to pass the 100-year storm event. The area currently floods during a lower storm event. The limits of the drainage portion of the project are near the existing rock-lined channel from the end of Phase I, east of Elm, to the culverts in front of Quick Trip. The limits of the roadway reconstruction are along Eagle from Carroll to Elm and Myrtle from Eagle Drive to approximately 200’ north. (Exhibit 3) Invitation for Bids (IFB) was sent to 432 prospective contractors of this service. In addition, specifications were placed on the Materials Management website for prospective contractors to download and advertised in the local paper. Three (3) bids were received. The lowest bid meeting specifications were received by Jagoe-Public Company. The engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost (OPCC) was $1.8-2.0 Million. The low bid was slightly higher than the engineer’s OPCC range. RECOMMENDATION Award a public works contract to Jagoe-Public Company for the construction of the Eagle Drive Drainage Improvements Phase II Project in the amount of $2,057,289.20. City Hall 215 E. FISCAL INFORMATION This project will be funded from account 650106459.1360.40100 in the amount of $1,613,662.51, account 350437444.1360.40100 in the amount of $406,032, and account 350438444.1360.40100 in the amount of $37,594.69. Requisition # 138761 has been entered in the Purchasing software system in the amount of $2,057,289.20.
