SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Rockstar Welding LLC, for welding and fabrication
repairs, retrofitting, construction and custom fabrication for various City facilities and properties; providing
for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (IFB 7132 – awarded to Rockstar
Welding LLC, for one (1) year, with the option for four (4) additional one (1) year extensions, in the total
five (5) year not-to-exceed amount of $1,400,000).
IFB INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
This Invitation for Bid is for welding and fabrication repairs, retrofitting, construction and custom
fabrication of City facilities and properties. The City has multiple locations that have wrought
iron/ornamental fencing and gates as well as metal awnings, roofs, and walls. The use of this contract will
range from design fabrication of requested components and parts, assistance with emergency repairs and
small scheduled projects on an as-needed basis.
The contract will allow the department to save time and be more cost-effective by being able to call a pre-
established contractor for a specific job, as opposed to going out for bid on each one. Facilities Management
has not had a welding and fabrication contract in the past. The department spent just under
$840,000 in the previous three (3) years for welding services.
Invitation for Bids was sent to 39 prospective suppliers of this item. In addition, specifications were placed
on the Materials Management website for prospective suppliers to download and advertised in the local
newspaper. Two (2) bids meeting specifications were received. The lowest bid was received by Rockstar
Welding, LLC.

$1,400,000.

ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT
This is an initial one (1) year contract with options to extend the contract for four (4) additional one (1) year
periods, with all terms and conditions remaining the same.
FISCAL INFORMATION
These services will be funded from the Building and Equipment account 230001.6512. Requisitions will be
entered into the Purchasing software system on an as-needed basis. The budgeted amount for these services
is $1,400,000.
