SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing
the approval of Change Order No. 2 to the contract between the City of Denton and Jagoe-Public Company,
for the Airport Landside Paving project; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an
effective date (IFB 7239 – Change Order #2 in the not-to-exceed amount of $78,814.87 for a total contract
award aggregated to $968,405.81).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The Airport Landside Paving project includes the reconstruction of four (4) internal roadway segments at the
Denton Enterprise Airport. The work consisted of subgrade stabilization, 11-inch-thick asphalt and a concrete
ribbon curb. Some high traffic segments were also edge milled and overlaid with asphalt at varying thicknesses.
The Engineers opinion of probable construction cost was 1.2 million. Jagoe-Public Company was awarded the
contract with a low bid of $855,163.75.
In June of 2020, Change Order No. 1 consisted of the replacement of a failing 24-inch corrugated metal pipe
with two 18-inch corrugated metal pipes and drainage correction measures required at an airplane hangar
driveway.
Change Order No. 2, in the amount of $78,814.87, will close out the project. This covers all over runs due to
intersections and some roadway widths being wider than shown on the plans. Additional sod and concrete
removal were also incurred during construction. With the approval of Change Order No. 2, the final project
change order percentage is 13%.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (Council, Boards, Commissions)
On March 17, 2020, City Council approved a contract with Jagoe-Public Company, in the not-to-exceed
amount of $855,163.75 (Ordinance 20-600)
On June 26, 2020, Purchasing approved a Change Order No. 1 with Jagoe-Public Company, in the not-to-
exceed amount of $34,427.19.
RECOMMENDATION
Award Change Order No. 2 with Jagoe Public Co, for additional work of the Airport Landside Paving project,
in the not-to-exceed amount of $78,814.87, for a total contract award aggregated to $968,405.81.
