Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information SheetCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement & Compliance CFO: Antonio Puente, Jr. DATE: June 18, 2019 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager, or his designee, to execute a contract with Dallas Lite & Barricade, Inc., through an Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with the City of Arlington, Bid Number 18-0096, under the Government Code, Chapter 791.001, to authorize City of Denton contracts for the acquisition of barricades to be used throughout the City by various departments; authorizing the expenditure of funds therefor; and declaring an effective date (File 7078 – awarded to Dallas Lite & Barricade, Inc., for one (1) year, with the option for two (2) additional one (1) year extensions, in the total (3) year not-to-exceed amount of $300,000). The Public Utilities Board recommends approval (6-0). INFORMATION /BACKGROUND This contract is for the rental of traffic control services for both short and long term traffic control throughout the City of Denton (City) on an as-needed basis by various departments. These services include but are not limited to street closures, detours, partial lane closures, and any other traffic need the City may have. This contract can also be utilized for various event planning needs that occur throughout the City and especially around the square. The city currently utilizes various contractors who provide these types of traffic control services; which includes design, set up and removal of all required devices for any given event and time frame. These traffic control services come with accreditation and follow approved traffic control regulations. Multiple departments throughout the City will utilize this service and it will help establish a more consistent and reliable means to quickly establish approved traffic control plans for various construction, maintenance, and repair of infrastructure throughout the City. Over the last two years, the City has spent on average $85,500 per year. Pricing obtained through the City of Arlington has been competitively bid and meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102. PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS) On June 18, 2013, City Council approved the interlocal agreement with the City of Arlington (Ordinance 2013-158). On June 10, 2019, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) recommended this item to the City Council for consideration. City Hall 215 E. ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT This is a three (3) year contract. FISCAL INFORMATION Purchase orders will be entered by the using department on an as-needed basis.
