SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager, or his designee, to execute a contract with Houston Mac Haik Dodge Chrysler
Jeep Ram LTD, Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments (H-GAC) Cooperative Purchasing
Program Contract Number AM10-20, for one (1) new Frazer Medic and two (2) remounted Frazer medics
for the Fire Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date
(File 7557 – awarded to Houston Mac Haik Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram LTD, in the not-to-exceed amount
of $632,824.00).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The acquisition of new medics is the result of the coordinated efforts of Fleet Services and the Fire
Department to ensure vehicles and equipment are acquired and replaced in a timely manner. This ensures
the safe and efficient response capability of the Denton Fire Department.
The Fire Department has standardized the fleet of ambulances to Frazer Ltd. manufacturing to create
efficiencies with service, maintenance, and parts supplies available directly through Frazer Ltd., Houston
Texas. Frazer Ltd., submitted an HGAC quote through Houston Mac Haik Dodge Chrysler Jeep for one (1)
2021 model Dodge 5500 chassis with new 14’ medic module and two (2) 2021 Dodge 4500 chassis with
refurbished 12’ medic modules.
The new Frazer medic will enter frontline service as a fleet addition at either station 5 or station 8. The
refurbished medics will enter frontline service at the Annex (old Station 4) replacing FD1305 and FD1307.
These two chassis will be auctioned.
The cost of additional equipment and supplies required to outfit the three medics is estimated at $600,000
and will be funded under the COVID provision in the Cares Act. The total cost of this project is estimated
at $1,259,500.
Pricing obtained through the H-GAC Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid and
meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On June 6, 1995, Council approved the interlocal agreement with the H-GAC Cooperative Purchasing
Network (Ordinance 1995-107).
