Subject: City of Denton – Bid #7126 - S&C Manual PME Pad-Mounted Switchgear
As we discussed today, we are forced to increase our pricing on this blanket contract. S&C has
implemented a price increase effective June 1, 2021. This price increase is affecting all our blan-
ket contracts and quoted pricing. We do recognize that we increased pricing earlier this year
per the BLS Index on this contract, but pricing is going up more and faster than the BLS reflects.
We have taken the February increase into account to minimize the cost increase to the City of
Denton.
Our Material costs are increasing sharply as overall commodities demand bounces back. Steel
prices have spiked over 175% since July 2020 to historically high levels, largely driven by a dra-
matic rise in demand in the automotive sector at the same time steel-manufacturing capacity
remains constrained. Aluminum prices are up nearly 40% from last July. As a result of these sub-
stantial commodity price increases, S&C is experiencing large material cost impacts.
Increasing demand has also significantly impacted logistics worldwide. Fuel prices are on the
rise. Lead times for freight trucks have increased as the number of loads requiring shipment per
available truck has spiked. These market dynamics are driving double-digit percentage increases
of up to 20% in shipping costs.

From time to time, City of Denton (we, us or Company) may be required by law to provide to
you certain written notices or disclosures. Described below are the terms and conditions for

Getting paper copies
