Agenda Information SheetCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement & Compliance ACM: David Gaines DATE: February 15, 2022 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Associated Supply Company, Inc., through the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network Contract # 597-19, for the purchase of one (1) Genie model GTH- 5519 Telehandler for the Solid Waste Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (File 7913 – awarded to Associated Supply Company, Inc., in the not-to-exceed amount of $67,970.55). INFORMATION/BACKGROUND This request is for the purchase of one (1) Genie model GTH-5519 Telehandler for the Solid Waste Department. The Telehandler is a fleet addition, approved in the Department’s FY21/22 budget. The Genie GTH-5519 is a compact telehandler or all-terrain, telescoping forklift with a 5,500lb lifting capacity with an 11-foot forward reach to a maximum height of 18 feet. The machine can accept many different types of attachments such as forks, buckets, or a winch making it a very versatile piece of equipment. The department plans to use this Telehandler at the Household Collections site as well as for loading and unloading trucks and general materials movement around the Solid Waste and landfill property as needed. Fleet Services submitted specifications and requested quotes from (4) different suppliers of Telehandlers. United Rental, Sunbelt, and Rental One did not respond. Fleet is recommending the purchase of the Genie model GTH-5519 Telehandler from the only supplier, Associated Supply Company, Inc. (ASCO) that responded. This machine is available on Buy Board Contract # 597-19. Pricing obtained through the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid and meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102. PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS) On February 1, 2005, Council approved the interlocal agreement with the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network (Ordinance 2005-034). Due to the rise in Covid19 cases, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) postponed the meeting in January 2022. Procurement Staff met with the Chair and determined which items could go to Council first due to timing. PRINCIPAL PLACE OF BUSINESS Associated Supply Company, Inc. Lubbock, TX ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT Delivery of the items will occur within 200 days after receipt of order. FISCAL INFORMATION These items will be funded from Solid Waste Vehicle Replacement Funds.
