SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the approval of Change Order No. 1 to the contract between the City of Denton and Mountain
Cascade of Texas, LLC, for the construction of the North South Phase III 42-inch Water Transmission Line
Project for the City of Denton; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective
date (File 7200-1– Change Order No. 1, in the not-to-exceed amount of $255,476.70, for a total contract
award aggregated to $4,219,378.74). The Public Utilities Board recommends approval (5 - 0).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The North South Water Main Phase III Project is the final phase of the three-phase project by providing
4,300 linear feet of 42-inch, 16-inch, and 12-inch water line along Bonnie Brae Street from I-35E Service
Road to Panhandle Street. This project is on the City’s Water Master Plan and provides more adequate and
reliable water service to customers. The City entered into a contract with Mountain Cascade of Texas, LLC
on June 22, 2021, to complete the North South Phase III Project. This is the first and final order in the
amount of $255,476.70, increasing the total Purchase Order amount to $4,219,378.74
Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $255,476.70 consists of the following:
• Industrial Hygienist
o required for excavation near the gas station
• Asphalt Pavement Repair
o increasing paving from 2 to all 4 lanes of Bonnie Brae due to extensive deterioration
of southbound traffic lanes while the project has been under construction.
PRIOR ACTION/VIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On June 22, 2021, City Council approved a contract with Mountain Cascade of Texas, LLC, in the not-to-
exceed amount of $3,963,902.04 (Ordinance 21-1265).
On March 28, 2022, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) recommended this item to the City Council for
consideration.

ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT
This project is substantially complete. All water lines are installed. Paving is anticipated to be complete by
the end of April 2022.
