SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Tymco, Inc., through the Houston-Galveston Area
Council of Governments (H-GAC) Cooperative Purchasing Program Contract Number SW04-20, for the
purchase of one (1) Peterbilt/Tymco Model 600 Regenerative Air Street Sweeper for the Public Works
Drainage Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (File
7999 – awarded to Tymco, Inc., in the not-to-exceed amount of $357,525.00). The Public Utilities Board
recommends approval (5 - 0).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
This request is for the purchase of one (1) new Tymco model 600 Regenerative Air Sweeper mounted on a
Peterbilt 220 chassis for the Public Works Drainage Department. This fleet replacement was approved as
part of the FY21-22 budget. The new sweeper is replacing a 2015 model Tymco sweeper that has
accumulated over 8,200 operating hours, and $55,000 in maintenance costs. This unit meets replacement
criteria for meter and age and is rapidly approaching the threshold for maintenance costs. The sweeper is
nearing the end of its effective economic lifecycle and will be auctioned when the new replacement sweeper
enters service.

The Drainage Department has standardized to the Tymco model sweeper to gain economies in operator
training, maintenance training, and parts supply. This regenerative air sweeper is used to sweep debris from
roadway surfaces and gutters throughout the service area.

Total $357,525.00
Pricing obtained through the H-GAC Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid and
meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On June 6, 1995, Council approved the interlocal agreement with the H-GAC Cooperative Purchasing
Network (Ordinance 1995-107).
On April 25, 2022, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) recommended this item to the City Council for
consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
Award a contract with Tymco, Inc., for the purchase of one (1) Peterbilt/Tymco Model 600 Regenerative
Air Street Sweeper for the Public Works Drainage Department, in a not-to-exceed amount of $357,567.

#155343 has been entered into the Purchasing software system in the amount of $340,540. The budgeted
amount for this item is $358,000.
