Project Background
•City of Denton operates over 600 miles of
water distribution pipe. Split into 5 pressure
planes.
•The existing Northwest pressure plane is fed
from the Central Pressure plane.
•There is not a transmission main that
provides direct flow to the Northwest
Elevated Storage Tank
•Water from Ray Roberts Water Treatment
Plant bypasses the Northwest Elevated Storage Tank and flows to McKenna and
Roselawn Elevated Storage Tanks

Project Background
•An imbalance in the system causes water age problems and pumping issues.•Water Age is defined as: The time from treatment facility to the tap.•Hydraulic imbalances are caused by elevation differences. This creates operational pumping problems in filling tanks.

•The Northwest Booster Pump Station is
a key component in the overall Water
Master Plan.
•The pump station is paired with a 36-
inch Water Transmission main (in
design).
•The pump station will be the primary
feed to the pressure plane, Northwest
Elevated Storage Tank and improve total water system performance.

•The pump station will efficiently deliver water to the
Northwest pressure plane, including new Denton High
School and future developments.
•The pump station is being built with growth in mind.
•The station has been designed for an initial capacity
of 18.7 MGD (million gallons per day) with an
ultimate capacity of 28.1 MGD.
This station will ensure water quality
standards are met and improve service
to the community.
