Traffic Signal Construction Services
The following five intersections are designed and ready for construction.
•Bell at Hickory
•Montecito at Hickory Creek
•Bell at McKinney
•Locust at Windsor
•US.77 at Discovery Park
The City anticipates replacing an additional six traffic signals due to aging infrastructure. These intersections are
not currently funded for construction, but staff will be actively seeking funding from different sources to get
these signals replaced/installed.

The total NTE amount is a cumulative amount and is based on the estimated
expenditure of upcoming traffic signal projects, as shown in the chart below:

Solicitation
Request for Qualifications was sent to 362 prospective suppliers, including 10 Denton firms, of this item. In addition, specifications were placed on the Procurement website for prospective suppliers to download and advertised in the local newspaper. Five (5) statement of qualifications were received and evaluated based upon published criteria including firm overview, resumes of key personnel, example projects, past performance, and safety record. Based upon this evaluation, the recommended award is to MasTec North America Inc., and Durable Specialties, Inc., and is determined to be the most qualified firms for the City.

Recommendations:
•Award a contract with MasTec North America Inc. and Durable
Specialties, Inc., for Traffic Signal Construction Services for the
Traffic Operations for the City of Denton, in a not-to-exceed
amount of $7,100,000.00.
