SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with MoboTrex, Inc., for the purchase of traffic hardware
and signals, Section A - Signal and Pedestrian Heads and Line 36 of Section C - PTZ 1080P Camera Kit,
to be stocked in the City of Denton Warehouse; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and
providing an effective date (IFB 8090 – awarded to MoboTrex, Inc., for one (1) year, with the option for
two (2) additional one (1) year extensions, in the total three (3) year not-to-exceed amount of $660,000.00).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
Traffic Signals and Hardware allow for safe vehicle and foot traffic across intersections. These signals also
work to flow traffic through the city using LED signals and signs as visual indicators to the end users.
Vehicle detection systems and sensors are used to help the signals know when vehicles are present at the
intersections. The Camera Kits are used for the observation of traffic intersections throughout the city by
the traffic operations department. The hardware on this IFB supports the use of these systems. Traffic
Signals and Hardware are stocked in the Warehouse and used on an as-needed basis.
Invitation for Bids was sent to 81 prospective suppliers of this item, including four (4) Denton firms. In
addition, specifications were placed on the Procurement website for prospective suppliers to download and
advertised in the local newspaper. Three (3) bids meeting specifications were received. The lowest bid was
received by MoboTrex, Inc. for Section A and Line 36 of Section C.

RECOMMENDATION

ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT
This is an initial one (1) year contract with options to extend the contract for two (2) additional one (1) year
periods, with all terms and conditions remaining the same.
FISCAL INFORMATION
These items will be funded from Distribution Center Working Capital account and charged back to the
using department. The budgeted amount for this item is $660,000. The City will only pay for services
rendered and is not obligated to pay the full contract amount unless needed.
