SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive statements of qualifications under RFQ 8061 for the Asset Management
Vision for the Water Utilities Department; and providing an effective date (RFQ 8061). The Public Utilities
Board recommends approval (7 - 0).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The Water Utilities Department recently solicited an RFQ for an Asset Management Vision project to assist
the department in developing a common vision to refine the various maintenance and operational programs
into a robust Asset Management program. While this project would be beneficial to the Water Utilities
Department, the department is deferring the project in favor of a City-wide approach to Asset Management
that will benefit all departments. With new initiatives in place to pursue this City-wide approach, staff
recommends rejecting all proposals submitted for the departmental project. Staff does not anticipate
returning to Council for approvals relating to this project but expects to support City-wide efforts as they
take shape.
In accordance with the Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On March 13, 2023, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) recommended this item to the City Council for
consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all proposals for Asset Management Vision for the Water Utilities
Department.
