Electric Engineering Supervisor Denton Municipal Electric February 20, 2024 1 Substation Pre-Cast Security Fencing •Precast concrete walls provide perimeter security for DME substations and are required by Denton Development Code for new substation projects. •Walls are constructed of precast concrete panels that will be 10’ in height and supported by concrete columns. •The exterior face of the walls will be painted per DME’s color scheme with a concrete stain to resemble block construction. •A continuous 2’ wide concrete mow strip with drainage features will be constructed along the bottom of the fence. 2February 20, 2024 ID 24-275 CIP Projects In addition to two new substation projects, DME has several existing substations that are in need of security walls. DME has CIP projects to construct approximately 15,000 feet of concrete security wall to provide protection to substation equipment at the following sites. 3 New Substations: •Underwood Substation •New Substation Southwest Existing Substations: •Teasley Substation •Fort Worth Substation •Denton North Substation •Spencer Interchange •Denton West Interchange •RD Wells Substation February 20, 2024 ID 24-275 Request for Proposals: RFP 8370 was advertised to construct precast concrete security/screening walls for Denton Municipal Electric. Only one proposal was received -Hawk Construction, LLC. Hawk Construction has been a contractor for DME and constructed several substation precast concrete walls with efficiency, workmanship, and excellence in service. 4February 20, 2024 ID 24-275 Recommendation 5 •DME recommends award of a contract with Hawk Construction, LLC., for constructing precast concrete security/screening walls for Denton Municipal Electric, in a three (3) year, with the option for two (2) additional one (1) year extensions, in the total five (5) year not-to-exceed amount of $6,000,000.
