The following are updates to the solicitation document:
The following questions and answers have been provided for this project. (See below)
1. Does the pattern or mold for the finials exist and will we have access to it?
No. A pattern or mold does not exist for the finials. It is the Fabricators responsibility to create the Mold Pattern. The Casting Piece is composed of 3 Pieces. (1) Iron Spear (2)
Post Cap Finial and a (3) Custom Cap sized to fit the corresponding Pole Dia. per Sign Type. Reference Sheet F.18 for Details.
2. 3” diameter schedule 160 pipe is called out. Is that correct or a misprint?
The Largest Sign Area - VDIR.9_TX is the only sign type that calls for Schedule 160. This was per our Structural Engineer Review and to meet TXDOT Guidelines. Ref Sheet D.17.
3. Sign type VDIR 10 calls for a Hapco Winchester decorative base as well as a ¼” thick wall structural support post. The Hapco post is sold as one unit with a .188 thick wall max.
What is the intent, to use the Hapco unit as it comes or splice in a ¼” thick walled pole?
In order to accommodate the different Pole Thicknesses required by our structural engineering review - The Hapco Winchester Decorative Base is the basis for design and should be Custom
Cast - either as a slipover or Clamshell Base. Also reference the F.16 for Breakaway footer detail showing additional height required to cover Breakaway Couplings.
