AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON TEXAS AMENDING CHAPTER 25,
ARTICLE IV "PARADES" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DENTON
TO PROVIDE FOR FEES FOR FUNERAL ESCORTS BY THE DENTON POLICE
DEPARTMENT, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the public interest to set fees for police escorts
for funerals, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SEECTION 1 That Article IV "Parades" of Chapter 25 "Streets, Sidewalks, and Public
Places" is hereby amended by adding a new Section 25-211, which shall read as follows
See 25-211. Funeral Escorts.
The following fees for funeral escorts by the Denton Police Department shall be charged
for any funeral procession within the City of Denton, Texas
Funeral Escort
Farmly/Funeral Escort
Additional Unit per Escort
Escorts Exceeding Minimum Time
Limits Stated Above
1 police unit, up to 1 hour = $40 00
1 police unit, up to 125 hours = $75 00
Per each police unit, up to 1 hour = $35 00
Each Police Unit per 0 25 hour = $10 00
SSECTION 2 That save and except as amended hereby, all the sections, sentences,
clauses, and phrases of Chapter 25 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton shall remain
in full force and effect
SECTION 3 That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word
in this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid by any
court of competent Jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas hereby declares it
would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such validity
SECTION 4 That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and approval, and the funeral escort fees shallbecomeeffective on and after October 1, 1999
