AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS CHANGING WALNUT STREET
TO A ONE-WAY STREET HEADING WEST BETWEEN ELM AND LOCUST STREETS,
PROVIDING FOR SIXTY DEGREE ANGLE PARKING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF
WALNUT AND PARALLEL PARKING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF WALNUT BETWEEN
ELM AND LOCUST STREETS, PROVIDING FOR PARKING TIME ON THIS PORTION
OF WALNUT STREET TO BE LIMITED TO TWO HOURS FROM 8 00 A M TO 5 00 P M
ON MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED
DOLLARS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION 1. When signs or markings are in place giving notice thereof, the following
street or portion of a street shall be designated for only one-way traffic heading west and it shall
be unlawful to travel east on that portion of the street
On Walnut Street from its intersection with Elm Street to its intersection with Locust
Street
SECTION 2. The parking of vehicles on Walnut Street from its intersection with Elm
Street to its intersection with Locust Street shall be designated as described below and any
parking contrary to the following provisions shall be unlawful except when it is necessary to stop
a vehicle to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the direction of a police
officer or official traffic control device
1 On the north side of this portion of Walnut Street, sixty degree angled parking will be
allowed No parking within twenty-five feet of Elm Street or Locust Street will be
allowed and no parking that blocks access to any driveways will be allowed
On the south side of this portion of Walnut Street parallel parking will be allowed
No parking within twenty-five feet of Elm Street or Locust Street will be allowed and
no parking that blocks access to any driveways will be allowed
SECTION 3. All parking in any of the areas designated by Section 2 of this ordinance
shall be limited to no longer than two hours on Monday through Friday from 8 00a in to 5 00
pm
SFCTION 4. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Denton in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the
ordinances of the City of Denton, not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, shall
remain in full force and effect
SE'MON 5• That if any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person
or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions or
applications, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are severable
SECTION 6. Any person adjudged guilty of parking a vehicle in violation of this
ordnance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred
Dollars ($200 00)
SECTION 7. That tins ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the
date of its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this
ordnance to be published twice in the Denton Record -Chronicle, the official newspaper of the
City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of its passage
