AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 98-124 PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICER, PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF FIRE FIGHTER, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, on May 12, 1998, the City Council passed Ordinance No 98-124 to implement the recommendation of the Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Denton, Texas, upon the recommendation and request of the Director of Civil Service, Denton Police Department, and Denton Fire Department, adopting and approving a schedule of Authorized Positions which relates to compensation and classification of police officers and fire fighters, and WHEREAS, since the passage of Ordinance No 98-124, the Police Department has determined that this ordinance needs to be amended to more correctly reflect the total number of Police Department positions to eliminate one (1) Assistant Chief position, eliminate one (1) Lieutenant position, and add one (1) Sergeant position, and add one (1) Police Officer position, NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I That Ordinance No 98-124 is hereby amended by adopting the schedule prescribing the number of positions for each classification of police officer and fire fighter in the City of Denton, attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein as Exhibit A, is hereby approved SECTION II That Ordinance 98-124 and all prior ordinances or resolutions of the City of Denton in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict SECTION III That if any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions or applications, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are severable SECTION IV That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon Captain positions, and add five (5) Driver positions, and twelve (12) fire fighter positions, NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION 1 That Ordinance No 98-293 is hereby amended by adopting the schedule prescribing the number of positions for each classification of police officer and fire fighter in the City of Denton, attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein as Exhibit A, is hereby approved SECf1ON 2 1hat Ordinance 98-124 and all prior oidulances of resolutions of the City of Denton in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent
