ORDINANCENO AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 97-099 PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICER, PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFI- CATION OF FIRE FIGHTER, REPEALING ALL PRIOR INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS TO THE EXTENT OF ANY SUCH CONFLICT, PROVIDING A RE- PEALER, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, on April 1, 1997, the City Council passed Ordinance No 97-099 to imple- ment the recommendation of the Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Denton, Texas, upon the recommendation and request of the Director of Civil Serv- ice, Denton Police department and the Denton fire Department, adopting and approving a sched- ule of Authorized Positions which relates to compensation and classification of police officers and fire fighters, and WHEREAS, since the passage of Ordinance No 97-099, the Police Department has de- termined that this ordinance needs to be amended to more correctly reflect the total number of Police Department positions and to eliminate one sergeant position and add one lieutenant posi- tion, NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I That Ordinance No 97-099 is hereby amended by adopting the schedule prescribing the number of positions for each classification of police officer and fire fighter in the City of Denton, attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein as Exhibit A, is hereby ap- proved SECTION II That Ordinance No 97-099 and all prior ordinances or resolutions of the City of Denton, Texas, in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of any such conflict SECTION III That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval PASSED AND APPROVED this the 964 �day of 1997 JAC ILLER, MAYOR ATTEST JENNIFER WALTERS, CITY SECRETARY BY APPRO D AS TO LEGAL FORM HERBERT L PROUTY, CITY ATTORNEY m e \wpdocs\fire & police ordinance 2 EXHIBI A ORDINANCE NO.
