HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-255Note Amended by Ordinance No. 98-124 ORDINANCE NO AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 97-145 PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICER, PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFI- CATION OF FIRE FIGHTER, REPEALING ALL PRIOR INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS TO THE EXTENT OF ANY SUCH CONFLICT, PROVIDING A RE- PEALER, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, on May 20, 1997, the City Council passed Ordinance No 97-145 to imple- ment the recommendation of the Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Denton, Texas, upon the recommendation and request of the Director of Civil Serv- ice, Denton Police department and the Denton Fire Department, adopting and approving a schedule of Authorized Positions which relates to compensation and classification of police offi- cers and fire fighters, and WHEREAS, since the passage of Ordinance No 97-145, the Police Department has de- termined that this ordinance needs to be amended to more correctly reflect the total number of Police Department positions and to add nine additional police officer positions, NOW, THERE- FORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS CTION That Ordinance No 97-145 is hereby amended by adopting the schedule prescribing the number of positions for each classification of police officer and fire fighter in the City of Denton, attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein as Exhibit A, is hereby ap- proved SECTION II That Ordinance No 97-145 and all prior ordinances or resolutions of the City of Denton, Texas, in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of any such conflict ECTION III That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval PASSED AND APPROVED this theA�'day of t,1w 11997 ATTEST JENNIFER WALTERS, CITY SECRETARY BY AP VED A TO LEGAL FORM HERBERT L PROUTY, CITY ATTORNEY BY e \wpdocs\Ptre & police ordinsnoe EXHIBIT ORDINANCE NO. CITY OF DENTON SCHEDULE OF AUTHORIZED POSITIONS POLICE DEPARTMENT The Police Department is authorized 121 positions as follows Chief of Police 1 Assistant Chief of Police 1 Captain 2 Lieutenant 8 Sergeant 11 Police Officer (and Recruits) 98 FIRE DEPARTMENT The Fire Department is authorized 105 positions as follows Fire Chief 1 Deputy Fire Chief 1 Battalion Chief 4 Captain 20 Driver 31 Fire Fighter 48 ORDINANCE NO1494 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 97-255 PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICER, PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF FIRE FIGHTER, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, on September 2, 1997, the City Council passed Ordinance No 97-255 to implement the recommendation of the Firefighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Denton, Texas, upon the recommendation and request of the Director of Civil Service, Denton Police Department, and Denton Fire Department, adopting and approving a schedule of Authorized Positions which relates to compensation and classification of police officers and fire fighters, and WHEREAS, since the passage of Ordinance No 97-255, the Police Department has determined that this ordinance needs to be amended to more correctly reflect the total number of Police Department positions to add ten (to) police officer positions, NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I. That Ordinance No 97-255 is hereby amended by adopting the schedule prescribing the number of positions for each classification of police officer and fire fighter in the City of Denton, attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein as Exhibit A, is hereby approved SECTION II. That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Denton in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the ordinances of the City of Denton, not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, shall remain in full force and effect SECTION III.
