HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-097j:\wpdocs\ord\poUce.ord ORDINANCE NO. q� c�97 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICER; AUTHORIZING, PURSUANT TO §143.014 OF THE TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE, THE APPOINTMENT OF AN ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE; REPEALING ALL PRIOR INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS TO THE EXTENT OF ANY SUCH CONFLICT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Fire Fighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Denton, Texas, upon the recommendation and request of the Director of Civil Service and the Denton Police Department, adopted and approved on April 20, 1995 the attached Schedule of Authorized Positions which relates to compensation and classification of police officers; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION I. That the schedule prescribing the number of positions for each classification of police officer in the City of Denton, attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein as Exhibit A, is hereby approved. SECTION II. That, pursuant to §143.014 of the Texas Local Government Code, the city council authorizes the Department Head of the Police Department to appoint an Assistant Chief of Police. SECTION III. That all prior ordinances or resolutions of the City of Denton, Texas, in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of any such conflict. SECTION IV. That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval. PASSED AND APPROVED this the a?-111 day of , 1995.
