HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-0611784L NO ?L AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 24-131 OF CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE V OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I That Chapter 24, Article V, Section 24-131 (c) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended as follows Section 24-131 Impoundment of Standing or Parked Vehicles (c) Subject to the provisions of section 24 131 1 hereof, a vehicle removed and towed under the authority of this section shall be kept at the place designated by the police department until application for redemption is made by the owner or his authorized agent or other person legally entitled to possession o the vehicle The police department shall require adequate proof of owner- ship or proof of the right to possession of the vehicle The fees for towing and storage of vehicles are as follows (1) Towing Fees As established by the towing service ordinance, as amended, (2) Storage Fees a Cars, pickups and motorcycles $10 00 per day after forty-eight (48) hours b Semi -trucks $15 00 per day c Tractor/trailer $15 00 per day/per unit (3) Impound Fee $15 00 SECTION II That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such invalidity SECTION III All ordinances or parts of ordinances in force when the provisions of this ordinance become effective which are incon- sistent or in conflict with the terms or provisions contained in this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict SECTION IV That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval /f PASSED AND APPROVED this the � day of ( Q.ti1/ , 1987 RAY E ENS, MAYOR CITY F DENT N, TEXAS ATTEST I wwj3m JE I A TE S AC G CI Y SECRETARY CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORM DEBRA ADAMI DRAYOVITCH, CITY ATTORNEY CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS BY PAGE 2
