AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
SPECIAL RUN-OFF MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON
APRIL 24, 1982
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
The City Council finds and declares that the April 24, 1982
special run-off municipal election was duly ordered for the
purpose of electing a Mayor to Place 7 and one Councilperson to
Place 6 on the Council, that proper notice of said election was
duly given and election officials appointed, that said election
was duly held and the returns of the election officials have
been delivered to the Council, all in accordance with the laws
of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of the City
of Denton
SECTION II
The official returns of the election officials having been
opened, examined and canvassed, the Council hereby finds and
declares that 2,747 votes were cast at said election, and that
the votes cast for each place on the Council were as follows
FOR MAYOR PLACE 7
RICHARD O STEWART 1,413 votes
KATHY ORR 1,304 votes
FOR CITY COUNCIL PLACE 6
JACK Q BARTON 1,670 votes
GRANT JACOBSON 953 votes
SECTION III
The Council finds and declares that each candidate listed
below received a majority of the votes cast for each place on
the Council and that each candidate listed below is hereby
declared to be elected to the City Council of the City of Denton
PLACE 7 - RICHARD 0 STEWART
PLACE 6 - JACK Q BARTON
and such candidate shall assume the duties of his office on the
date that he takes the official oath of office
SECTION IV
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 27th day of April, 1982
