AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, DETERMINING AND
ESTABLISHING THE MAXIMUM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT ON GLENWOOD
AND MISTYWOOD TO BE TWENTY (20) MILES PER HOUR, PROVIDING A
PENALTY OF NOT TO EXCBBD TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200 00),
PROVIDING A SEVBRABILITY CLAUSE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
Based upon an engineering and traffic investigation, the
City Council hereby determines that the reasonable and safe
prima facie maximum speed limit from 100 feet south of the
intersection of Glenwood and the intersection of Mistywood to
100 feet north of the intersection of Glenwood and Mistywood is
twenty (20) miles per hour
SECTION II
An individual adjudged guilty of exceeding this speed
limit, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and punished by a fine
not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00)
SECTION III
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application
thereof to any person or circumstances is held invalid by any
court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and
the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares
it would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such
invalidity
SECTION IV
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14)
days from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is
hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice in the Denton Record -Chronicle, the official
newspaper of the City of Denton, Texas, within ten (10) days of
the date of its passage }
