AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF CENTER, A PUBLIC STREFT, TO
CARROLL BOULEVARD, AFTER FINDING THAT THF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE
WOULD BE BEST SERVED BY HAVING A MAJOR THOROUGHFARE BEAR THE
SAME NAME THROUGHOUT ITS FULL LENGTH
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
The City Council hereby fznds and determines that the public
convenience requ~re~ that the new Carroll thoroughfare have the
same name, wlth no arbitrary change, throughout its length,
the area of przmary vehicular use and travel Therefore, Center
Street, now exlstlng between H~ckorv Street and Eaqle Drive, be
now and hereafter known as Carroll Boulevard, and such name ~s
hereby changed and so designated
SECTION II
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in this ordlnance, or appl~catzon thereof to any
person or circumstances, is held invalid by any court of competent
jurlsdlctlon, such holding shall not affect the validity of the re-
maining portions of this ordlnance, and the City Council of the
City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares zt would have enacted such
remaining portzons despzre any such ~nvalldltv
SECTION III
That this ordlnance shall become effective on and after the
1st day of August, 1971, and the Clty Secretary is hereby dlrected
to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be published twice ~n the
Denton Record-Chronlcle, the official newspaper of the City of
Denton, Texas, within fifteen (15) days of the date of its passage,
and to inform the postal department of this change within five (5)
days hereof
