Locust St., Denton, Texas, at which the following items will be considered: 1. Call to order; announce quorum, introductions. 2. Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding legislative issues of interest to the Denton ISD and the City of Denton. 3. Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding the status of the development review process for governmental capital projects. 4. Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding the 2010 Federal Census. 5. Adjourn. Sincerely, Kim Stevenson Executive Administrative Assistant DENTON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT RESOLUTION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON TUESDAY, JUNE 22, 2010 WHEREAS, at the invitation of the City of Denton, the Denton Independent School District and Denton County have joined with the City of Denton to form an ad hoc administrative committee for the purposes of investigating, analyzing and developing recommendations for the creation of a third tier of development, Governmental. { WHEREAS, the basis for formation of this ad hoc committee is the recognition of the partnership between the many sovereign entities that exist and operate within the corporate city limits of the City of Denton, and which share the common goal of the greater good for the entire municipality. WHEREAS, while each sovereign entity has fundamentally different obligations, objectives and goals; each, likewise, has a fundamental distinction from non-governmental development entities in their respective project purposes, commitment to municipal code, regulatory compliance and profit motivation. Such distinctions merit the creation of a third tier of development regulation recognizing the traits of the governmental entities and their partnership with each other in achieving the common goals toward which the development regulations are aimed. WHEREAS, the creation of a Governmental tier of development regulations potentially diminishes the fiscal liabilities of all governmental entities and expedites the construction process, all to the benefit of our taxpayers. WHEREAS, the ad hoc administrative committee has published its plan to create this third tier of development regulation for governmental entities. Such plan streamlines the platting, permitting, and overall development processes through concurrent reviews and approvals in recognition of the entities' partnership, while maintaining the fundamental review process to insure code compliance. WHEREAS, the plan of the ad hoc committee identifies and incorporates "Points of Contact," as a being necessary and indispensable component for efficient project communication and problem resolution. In keeping therewith the Denton Independent School District invites Denton County and City of Denton to create a single point of contact to facilitate a more effective form of communication and problem resolution, and invite Denton County and City of Denton to future Denton ISD Bond Planning and Bond Progress meetings to facilitate coordination of services between our respective entities. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Denton ISD Board of Trustees advocates for and encourages the Denton City Council to consider and support the implementation of the ad hoc committee's recommendations for creation of this third tier of development - Governmental. The foregoing Resolution to the City Council of the City of Denton was offered for approval on motion made by Te~~C , seconded by m&z- ("J ~~AP~i ~ and after discussion was adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Denton Independent School District at a regularly scheduled meeting called, posted, and held in Denton, Denton County, Texas, on June 22, 2010, at which ~ Trustees were present, by the following vote: a` For, 6 Against, and C, Abstaining.
