A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE UNITED STATES
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR A BROWNFIELD ASSESSMENT
GRANT 1N THE AMOUNT OF $200,000; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the United States Environmental Protection Agency is releasing a request
for proposals for the 2012 Brownfield Grant Program (the "Grant"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton, Texas is qualified to apply for grant funding under the
"FY2012 Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup Grant - Request for
Proposals"; and
WHEREAS, the Grant being sought, if awarded, will provide $200,000 in funding to the
City for conducting environmental site assessments for properties predominantly located in,
although not limited to, the Downtown Implementation Plan Area and Central Business District
and wi11 facilitate the development of a Brownfields Assessment and Redevelopment Plan and a
Brownfield Assessment and Redevelopment Guidance Document to assist developers and
property owners to understand how to assess and redevelop brownfield properties; and
WHEREASe the City Council of the City of Denton has expressed their support and
interest regarding the above-referenced Request for Proposals; NOW THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION l. The City Council of the City of Denton, Texas hereby designates, delegates
and authorizes George C. Campbell, City Manager of the City of Denton, Texas, or his designee,
to complete and submit the application and related materials requestang funding under the United
States Environmental Protection Agency's "FY2012 Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan
Fund and Cleanup Grant - Request for Proposals" for the implementation of a Brownfields
Assessment Grant
SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
