Th~s aumber ts the sum of 41,774,040 square feet mult~phed by $1 18 and 20 percent of the land area, 8,354,808 square feet, multiplied by $97 15 ($87 15 for improvements plus $10 for business personal property) If tlus property were sub`lected to DISD's $1 844 per $100 tax rate, the 3qeld would be $15,876,157 annually Deducting 10 percent for roads, sidewalks, and other pubhc improvements typically found on private developments would leave a net taxable value of $774,866,668, which would y~eld $14,288,541 each year for the school chsmct This amount ~s equivalent to 20 percent of the Denton ISD's current market valuation Put differently, if these four restitutions were privately owned and taxable, the Denton ISD would realize a substantial increase ~n locally generated revenues This ~s not to suggest that the three un~verslt~es and the state school are a net economic burden and financial dram on the commumty and the school district Indeed, they contribute greatly to the community by provldmg thousands of.lobs for area residents But with such a large percentage of the district's property state owned and non-taxable, a strong case can be made for adjusting the pubhc school fundang formula to account for this fiscal overburden 2 3 GET ACQUAINTED WITH DENTON NIGHT Hononng New Employees of Denton ISD Monday, October 16, 2000 Ryan High School Musical Concert Stnckland M~ddle School Choir Opening Comments Dr Ray Braswell, Supenntendent of Schools Board of Trustees Euhne Brock, Mayor of Denton Skit Ryan H~gh School Theater Students Recogmt~on of Sponsors Sharon Cox, Pubhc Information Coordinator Mixer Act~wty, Meeting w~th Sponsors, Refreshments Awarding of Door Prizes Dr Ray Braswell BOOTHS Door Prizes/Goody Bags American Assomat~on of Umverstty Women FOUR $25 AMERICAN EXPRESS GIFT CHECKS F~rst State Bank of Texas r Assoctat~on of Texas Professional Educators GOLF PACKAGE & OVERNIGHT STAY FOR TWO Radisson Hotel Big Brothers & Big Sisters TWO $50 GIFT CERTIFICATES Golden Triangle Mall fy21 Centu NOTEPADS, PENS & CALENDARS Denton Area Teachers Credit Umon Christ Fellowship $50 GIFT CERTIFICATE Denton Area Teachers Cmmht Umon Christ the Servant Lutheran Chumh BOOK--Z4 ESSENTIAL LESSONS FOR INVESTMENT SUCCESS ¥ Church on the Go Point Bank Ctty of Denton FOUR TICKETS TO DHS vs RHS FOOTBALL GAME DISD Athlete Department Parks & Recreation, Human Resoumes, Community Development TWO $25 GIFI' CERTIFICATE TO OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE McK~ssaek Group Clvltan TWO TICKETS TO MUSIC THEATRE OF DENTON Music Theatre of Donton County Feed & Pet FALL CENTERPIECE Kann Sehgmann & the Selling Team/Keller Williams ~ ~ Delta Kappa Gamma TWO $25 GIFT CERTIFICATES TO OFFICE DEPOT.
