CITY OF DENTON CITY COUNCIL
March 16, 2001
After determ~mng that a quorum ~s present and convening ~n an Open Meeting, the C~ty
Counctl of the C~ty of Denton, Texas will convene in a Closed Meeting on Friday, March
16, 2001 at 9 00 a m in the City of Denton Counml Work Session Room, Denton City
Hall, at 215 East McK~nney, Denton, Texas to consider specific ~tems when these ~tems
are hsted below under the Closed Meeting secnon of th~s agenda When ~tems for
consideration are not hsted under the Closed Meeting section of the agenda, the C~ty
Counc!l will not conduct a Closed Meeting at 9 00 a m, and will convene at the t~me
hsted §elow for ~ts regular or speeml called meeting The C~ty Council reserves the right
to adjqum ~nto a Closed Meeting on any ~tem on ~ts Open Meeting agenda consistent w~th
Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, as amended, as set forth below
1 Closed Meeting
A Consultation w~th the C~ty Attorney --Under TEXAS GOVERNMENT
CODE Section 551 071
(1) Receive legal adwce from the C~ty Attorney or his staff
concermng legal ~ssues regarding adoption of the Denton
Development Code and legal adwce concermng nonconforming
uses where to &seuss these matters m pubhc would conflict w~th
the duty of the C~ty's attomeys under Texas D~smphnary Rules of
Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas mclu&ng but not
hm~ted to legal adwce relating to various planned developments
m¢lu&ng the following
1 PD-20 Umcorn Lake
2 PD-139 The V~ntage
3 PD 142 Hfllarest Center
4 PD 138 Hunter Ranch Bus~ness and Industrial Park
5 PD 120 North Po~nte
ANY IFINAL ACTION, DECISION, OR VOTE ON A MATTER DELIBERATED 1N A
CLOSED MEETING WILL ONLY BE TAKEN IN AN OPEN MEETING THAT IS HELD IN
COMPLIANCE WITH TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, CHAPTER 551, EXCEPT TO THE
EXTENT SUCH FINAL ACTION, DECISION, OR VOTE IS TAKEN IN THE CLOSED
MEETING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION $51 086 OF THE
TEX~S GOVERNMENT CODE (THE "PUBLIC POWER EXCEPTION") THE CITY
couNcIL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADJOURN INTO A CLOSED MEETING OR
EXECUTIVE SESSION AS AUTHORIZED BY TEX GOV'T CODE, SECTIONS 551 001,
ET SI~Q (THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT) ON ANY ITEM ON 1TS OPEN MEETING
AGENDA OR TO RECONVENE IN A CONTINUATION OF THE CLOSED MEETING ON
THE CLOSED MEETING ITEMS NOTED ABOVE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TEXAS
OPEN MEETINGS ACT, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION SECTIONS 551 071-
551 086 OF THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT

Following the conclusion of the Closed Meeting, the Council will convene xnto a Special
Called Meeting on Friday, March 16, 2001 in the Council Work Session Room at City
Hall, 215 E McKlnney Street, Denton, Texas at which the following items will be
considered
1 Receive a report, hold a discussion and give staff direction regarding the draR
Development Code, including the review of public comments, draft code pohcy
issues, zomng map revisions, and various planned development districts including
PD-20, PD-139, PD-142, PD-138, and PD-120
2 Possible continuation of Closed Meeting under Sections 551 071-551 086 of the
Texas Open Meetings Act
3 Official Action on Closed Meeting Item(s) under Sections 551 071-551 086 of the
Texas Open Meetings Act
4 In addition, at some point during the meeting the Council will travel to and meet
at the site or sites of various properties being affected by the adoption of the
Development Code including the following locations
Comer of Geeshng and University (US 380)
Three comers along Flshtrap Rd, Trinity Road and US 380
Area along Edwards Road East of Mayhdl
The Council reserves the right to take up the above agenda items in any order it deems
advisable, including the reconvenlng in the Council Work Session Room to discuss
remmmng items after the conclusion of the above mentioned site visits
