SUBJECT
Consider approval of a resolution of the C~ty Council of the City of Denton, Texas, appointing
one member and two alternates to the Interim Executive Committee of the Denton County
Transportation Authority, prowdmg a repealer, and prowd~ng and effective date
BACKGROUND
The recently created Denton County Transportation Authority is governed by an Interim
Executive Committee appointed by the various municipalities in the County and by Denton
County ~tself As you may be aware, the legal counsel for the Denton County Transportation
Authority has determined that elected officmls cannot serve on the Interim Executive Committee
if appointed by the govermng body of which they are a member Mayor Brock will have to step
down as the City's representative Therefore it is necessary to reappoint a representative from the
City to serve on the Committee This mhng is also affecting five other cities that have appointed
a member of their governing body
The attached resolution will allow the City Council to appoint a new representative and a first
and second alternate should the primary representative have to miss a meeting
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (Council, Boards, Commissions)
On October 23, 2001, the Council appmnted Mayor Euhne Brock to the Denton County
Transportation Authority

RESOLUTION ~ qO
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS,
APPOINTING ONE MEMBER AND TWO A~LTERNATES TO THE INTERIM EXECUTIVE
COMMITTEE OF THE DENTON COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY,
PROVIDING A REPEALER, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Sectmn 460 051 et seq of the Transportation Code authonzes the creation
of an anthonty to provide public transportation and transportation-related servmes, and
WHEREAS, the Denton County Commlssaoners' Court has initiated the process to create
such an authority known as the Denton County Transportation Authority hereinafter referred to
as "Authority", and
WHEREAS, the Denton C~ty Cotmcfl c~eems that it is in the pubhc interest to appoint a
member and two alternates to the Interim ~xecut~ve Committee for the Authority, NOW,
THEREFORE, I
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES
SECTION 1 That is hereby appointed as a member and
and i are hereby appointed as alternates to
the Interim Executive Comnuttee of the!Denton County Transportation Authority as
representatives for the City of Denton, Tex~s, in accordance with Section 460 054 of the
Transportation Code
SECTION 2 The City Manager ~s hereby authorized to send a certffied copy of this
Resolution to appropriate officials of the Authority
SECTION 3 That all previous resolutions and orders or parts of resolutions or orders in
force whon the provisions of this Resolution Ibecome effective which are inconsistent or in
conflict with the terms or provisions contmne~t in thru Resolution are hereby repealed to the
extent of any such conflict
SECTION 4 Th~s Resolution shall bec ~me effective lmmedmtely upon its passage and
approval
