HomeMy WebLinkAboutMay 7, 2002 AgendaAgenda 02-014 05/07/02 AGENDA CITY OF DENTON CITY COUNCIL May 7, 2002 The City of Denton City Council will convene in the Work Session Room on Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. to attend a reception honoring Mayor Pro Tem Rani Beasley. After determining that a quorum is present, the City of Denton City Council will convene in a Regular Meeting on Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas at which the following items will be considered: 1. Pledge afAllegiance U.S. Flag Texas Flag "Honor the Texas Flag - i pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible." Consider adoption of an ordinance canvassing the returns and declaring the results of a recall election held in the City of Demon on May 4, 2002; and providing an effective date. Consider adoption of an ordinance canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the regular municipal election held in the City of Denton Texas, on May 4, 2002; and providing an effective date. 4. Consider approval of a Resolution of Appreciation for Mayor Pro Tem Rani Beasley. 5. Oath of Office administered to newly elected Council Members. 6. Election of Mayor Pro Tem. CERTIFICATE I certify that the above notice of meeting was posted on the bulletin board at the City Hall of the City of Demon, Texas, on the day of ,2002 at o'clock (a.m.) (p.m.) CITY SECRETARY NOTE: THE CITY OF DENTON CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS IS ACCESSIBLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT. AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A RECALL ELECTION HELD iN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY 4, 2002; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The City Council finds and declares that the May 4, 2002 recall election was duly ordered for the purpose of determining whether Council Member Raymond Redmon shall be removed from the City Council by Recall; that proper notice of said election was duly given and election officials appointed; that the election was duly held and the returns of the election officials have been delivered to the Council, all in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of the City of Demon SECTION 2. The official returns of the election officials having been opened, examined, and canvassed, and the Council hereby finds and declares that __ ballots were cast at the election on the proposition "Shall Raymond Redmon Be Removed From TheCity Council By Recall?" and that the votes cast were as follows: EARLY VOTING: Yes votes No votes ELECTION DAY VOTING: Yes votes No votes TOTAL VOTES CAST: Yes votes No votes SECTION 3. The Council finds and declares that Council Member Raymond Redmon is/is not removed from office by Recall. SECTION 4. That the City Council has found and determined that the meeting at which this ordinance is considered is open to the public ard that notice thereof was given in accordance with provisions of the Texas open meetings law, Tex. AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO ELECT TWO CITY COUNCiLMEMBERS AND THE MAYOR HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY 4, 2002; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The City Council finds and declares that the May 4, 2002 regular municipal election was duly ordered for the purpose of electing two councilmembers to Places 5 and 6, and a Mayor to Place 7; that proper notice of said election was duly given and election officials appointed; that the election was duly held and the returns of the election officials have been delivered to the Council, all in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of the City of Demon. SECTION 2.
