ORDINANCE NO, 2011-244
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS,
APPROVING INTERIM SIGNAGE FOR THE "SHARE THE ROAD" PROGRAM
ENVISIONED BY THE VULNERABLE ROAD USER ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on April 5, 2011, the City Council approved the Vulnerable Road User
Ordinance, Ordinance No. 2011-046; and
WHEREAS, to begin educating the public on this concept of sharing the road with
vulnerable road users, City Staff has developed signage for use until the Manual Uniform Traffic
Control Devices (MUTCD) implements permanent signage; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the public interest to approve the "Share the
Road" signage on an interim basis in order to protect the health and safety of City of Denton
residents; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Denton, Texas, approves the "Share the
Road" signage attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Such Exhibit is incorporated in full in this
Ordinance.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
