HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964 y I kN fi'F, 11 MOORE BUSINESS FORMS, INC, DENTON TEXAS September 18, 1964 ~r s uF Mr. Jack Reynolds, City Manager Municipal Building Denton, Texas 4s KIWANIS PARK i ff Dear J'arki I am sorry that I was unable to attend the meeting with Mr. Rayzor the other day since I have been actively involved in t]i.is matter of developing a suitable area for scouting for some time, i As l understand it from a conversation today v4ith Bruce Davis -W» I Mr. Rayzor is now prepared to transfer title to the City of Denton of an area consisting of approximately 40 acres on the airport road f for the use by the city as a park site and the Kiwanis Park group for scouting activities. i As you probably know, Jack, Mr, Rayzor originally had proposed to contribute 20 acres to the City of `Denton and 20 acres to the Kiwanis' Park group. It is again my understanding that the City of Denton would be agree- able to permitting a certai,i of t portion the 44 -acre tract t to be used for scouting activities, however, with the possibility that we may be wanting to construct certain improvements within the scouting area, we feel that we should have ,title 'to an area that would be sufficient to accommodate one or more scout huts since having such a title would then enable us to borrow money to finance this construction program. It is my suggestion that the City of Denton, upon acquiring clear title to the land from Mr. Rayzor, prepare a deed or a transfer 'of title to the Kiwanis Park, Inc., a tract of land facing the airport road of r approximately 5 acres or whatever area mighL be agreed upon following a survey, that would be set aside for the construction of buildings to house the scout activities, The deed could and should contain 4~+ a sj Mx. Jack Reynolds Page 2 September 18, 1964 a reversionary clause that would automatically revert the title of the land back to the City of Denton if it ceased to be used for the purpose originally intended, the use of the balance of courso,c,s would also expect to have of the area, particularly that adjacent to the creek, for outdoor scouting activities, and this portion could very - well be handled on a lease basis, T would welcome the opportunit ` Jack Barton and y to discuss this further with you and perhaps Bruce Davis might join such a meeting so that we will all have a clear understanding. j Sincerely yours, G.
