Dear Nx. Holt:
This letter is to request a street use permit across
Wilshire Street between Ave. C and Kendolph.
Our warehouse is located behind our main store and
across Wilshire Street. This warehouse is on a separate
electric meter from our main store. We are requesting
a street use permit in order to have only one meter
servicing both warehouse and store.
Our company will be happy to pay the expense of
connecting electric supply from our warehouse to our
meter at the main store. The meter for our main store
is located at the back of our building on the corner of
Wilshire and Kendolph. It is satisfactory with us to
connect the meter by going overhead as recommended by
Mr. Blackburn.
Wilshire is only 2 Blocks long and not paved. The
Street is an insignificant street as it is a dead end
street at both ends and has very little traffic. The
only utility in Wilshire Street is a water line, so it
would not interfer with an undue amount of other utilities.
It is my understanding from cunversations with the City
Manager that there is no written or firm policy for
granting street use permits. in the past, some requests
have been granted and others denied. Please bear in
mind that Wilshire is not a major street and has very
little possibility of becoming such.
Our reason for desiring this permit is economical.
Mr. Blackburn was kind enough to estimate what it
would save us if we had both our buildings on one meter.
He esti.aated that is would save us approximately $1,000.00
per year.

ELECTION ON APRIL 7, 1970, TO FILL VACANCY.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS:
That, because of the resignation of Jewel Smith as
presiding judge of the election to be held on the 7th day
of April, 1970, as provided in ordinance No. 70-6, hereto-
fore passed on the 24th day of February, 1970, a vacancy
exists which must be filledt THEREFORE, Section IV of said
ordinance No. 70-6 is hereby amended by appointing Dr.
J. L. Carrico presiding judge of said election, who shall
appoint such assistants as may be necessary to properly
conduct said election, as provided in the Election Code.

of the lone Star Gas Company's franchise in the City of
Denton, Texas, and for the rights,
purposes, privileges and the discharge of the obligations
provided by said section and covering the period of time
contemplated therein, we enclose Lone Star Gas Company
check in the amount of $ 202395.65 . Also, in compliance
with this certain section, we attach sworn i3port showing
the gross receipts received by Lone Star Gas Company from
the sale of gas to its domestic and commercial consumers
within the city limits of Denton, Texas,
for the calendar year 1969 , which report indicates the
basis upon which the payment has been made.

TEXAS, HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING OF SAID CITY ON THE 10TH
DAY OF MARCH, A. D. 1970.
R E S O L U T 1 0 N
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS:
That in order to adequately provide for necessary sani-
tary sewer distribution, the City needs to install and
maintain a pipe under and through property owned or con-
trolled by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad Company,
and obtain a crossing license therefrom;
THEREFORE, the Mayor of the City of Denton is hereby
authorized to sign and execute that certain Pipe Line
License Agreement dated the 3rd day of March, 1970, by
and between said Railroad Company and the City of Denton,
which agreement is attached hereto and incorporated here-
in by reference, and which signing shall be an official
act of the City which hereby accepts the terms and con-
ditions thereof.

As requested I havo made a personal inspection of the above referenced
property for the purpose of estimating the land values of the properties
resulting from the completion of the proposed street improvements and
drainage improvements along the described route.
The improvements are.,
Necessary drainage facilities for the proportion fronting on t1►e pro-
posed route and also curb and gutter along this route.
University Drive at Malone Street on the south side, is mostly built up
with various comsmercial establishments almost to Bctor Street. Pram
there to the railroad, it is almost all undeveloped. On the north side
of the street at Malone, it is mostly undeveloped. Between there and
Bonnie Brae only one operating establiehosent exists and that beirng a
doctor's clinic. purther west, there is a little development including
the Denton Oonsnty Co-op Headquarters.
About 10 years or sore ago, the City of Denton began its growth along
tbiversity Drive and has continued along this route ewer since. There
is no reason to believe that this westward growth will not continue,
At that time, portions of the land sold on an acreage basis, and now
with the existing high dvgm of development, if for sale, it would be
sold by the square foot, This extrenme enhancownt began with a similar
