Several programs were enhanced, The Senior Citizentg Cen- ter, with its excellent staff and cooperative agreements with R,S,V.P, and $PAN with the model program for the Senior Citizens + in the region. The Summer Playground program was a cooperative effort with North Texas state University, Division of Recreation and Leisure Studies in developing the Summer playerena in the three neighborhood parks, r The Department experienced a few problems during the year. The Parks Division, with the inability to hire maintenance per- sonnel had a very difficult time in maintaining its areas of op- orations, This caused the Department to reevaluate the service levels of maintenance operations, It is through the continued cooperation of volunteers, part- icipanta, association, and organizations that Denton will con- tinue to develop the Parks & Recreation Programs and facilities to the highest degree of involvement for the citizens of Denton. With- out their efforts and dedication man I would not be available to the citizens y of the of Dentoncreatianal programs The Department expresses its sincore appreciation and gratitude for the continued cooperation of the parks 4 Recreation Roaxd, t City Council, and the City Manager, j r aincerely solioit youx support and the Parks & Recreation De- partment will continually strive to earn your confidence'. r i i . s oe e3. ~ Dick R.
