We have been in contact with the District Office for several months about the timing of their latest plan and what the Highway Commission would approve for the next fourteen months letting schedule as well as the four year letting schedule and five year developmont schedule, Right after Thanksgiving we were again in touch with the District and they advised us that the Highway Commission had included several now projects in the plan. They said in several weeks they would have all the information they needed to be able to discuss the projects with us and give us some sort of timetables for the existing projocts as well as now projects that had been added, (Incidentally, new projects were able to be added because of the now legislation that authorized additional sales tax,) The projects that we have in the fourteen month letting schedule, the four year lotting scho"" o and the five year development plan are as follows; Loop 288 from 380 to 428, Loop 288 from 428 to 1-35, US 380(Universlty Drive) from us 77 (Locust Street) to Loop 288, US 380 from Loop 28.8. to US 3770 PM 2181(Teasley Lane) from I-35 south to the Denton city limits, US 377(Port Worth Drive) from I-35 south to PM 1830(Country Club Road), and Loop 288 from US 380 south to Colorado aoulovard, You may note that we had anticipated all of the Loop being h letting programs as well as US 380 being In the • program, However, Teasley Lane or ECM 2181, US 377 and Loop 288 ~ • • south from 380 to Colorado boulevard are all new projects. • cpr , n Highway Projects Updated Pao 2 January 81 1985 On January 3, 1 visited with John Dlano and we discussed all of these projects and the timetable that they have tentatively set for them, The following Is the information that we discussed on timing and the participation required on each of the projects; s i LQ~o 288 - The section from US 380 to FM 428(Sherman Ils~io_hhadulo, s curren had originallyoproj cted a letting date of. April of this year. All of the utility companies have bean contacted, 1l abut one pp have submitted plans and are beginning relocation of their -facilities. We are experiencing difficulty with Delhi Pipeline Company, We are currently still negotiating with them to sign contracts for consulting work and construction work, We have made several visits to tho Highway Department to discuss strategy and we will be visiting with Delhi to discuss alternatives within the next two weeks. There is a possibility that this project could slip to a Juno lotting date, The _second section of Loop 288 is from Sherman Drivo(NM 428) to 1-3513; This project is currently in the four year letting schedule, The District office is projecting to have plans ready for the utility relocations by this summer, They are projecting a letting date somewhere in fiscal 85.86. You may recall that the City did particippate in all the right-of-way acquisitions, All of thoso have boon final for a year, our participation now is mainly in contributions toward ° utility relocations, 'these are rather minor and will not have a largo effect on the CIP, us 380 - US 380 is also in the four year letting ffog am which runs from October 11 , 2985 through October 1, 1989, We have already received the schematics for US 380, Currently the District plans to have the environmental analysis and pans for right-of •way acquisition to us by July of 1986. You and the L'ouncil may recall that there has been money allocated In the CIp Program for this proact, ' Some $900,000 has been allocated for right-of-way acquisitions, curb and gutter, and longitpdinal drainage, This wi11 be a six lane divided facility, it will begin at Locust Stroot(US 77) and terminate just east of Loop 288. O Highway Projects Updated Pago 3 January 8, 1985 1i 6. 1 11M2181 Teasley. Lane)- 'i'bis is a new project. We boI o e s r did an extremely good job in lobbying for this project in Austin. The project is currently in the four year letting -schedulo, Tho City will be required to help participate in curb and gutter, longitudinal storm sower and any right-of-way that is needed, The project boos include widening the overpass at 35, the ilighway Department estimates approximately $i 000,000 worth of participation on the part 01 the City, Currently, there are no funds allocated in the CIP or any other bond issue for this participation, Since this is a now project, the District has not begun any kind of work on the project. They are )rojecting this project to bo lot in the latter of ~lie four year letting schodule which would be somewhere in the middlo of 1987 or dater, it will be a minimum four lane divided with capability to be oxpandod to six in the future, Us 377 ',Phis project would begin at I-35 and proc`oo south to 116 1830 or Country 'Club Road. The City again would be expected to ,,irtIcipato` in longitudinal drainage and curb and g~,tcor if that is the section that is designed,` There will be participation required of the City, We would estimate that at somewhere between $600,000 and $700,000, Again this is a now pro~ocr thAt has been hddod by the Commission and the timing would be very similar to 2181, Loo 288 from 380 south to Colorado Boulevard,,- This pro ac- b-Is in the .ve yeaT -d of pm~ht' program. The timetable for that program is from October of 1989 through October of 1994. It will also require some participation, llowevor, the District Office does not fool comfortable in giving us` an estimate at this point since it is so far out, They are projecting _a minimum of four lanes divided that could be upgraded to six lanos if traffic gonoration b and projections call for it, We will be working r 0 very closely with the District in the next couple o years to provide them additional information on developments and projections as they occur. • , l • r, r Highway Projects Update Page 4 January 8, 1985 These are all of the projects ;that the Commission 11as approved„ We are very excited about the additional projects that have been added since they will contribute greatly to the improvement of traffic flow throughout the City, If you or the Council have any further questions, we would be happy to -try ahd answer them at your convenince, Oc S v e Assistant City Manager ji 2071M • .u......w.. ---...J.~.~ :-9 - . r Mwu.~.Hr ~`a'.»y'.c; rrrt-' , ♦ I i' 1~ I i ) 7 r/i f ✓y _y ~ ~1 • i. r t~fi7 his flylYi ~c Mi4('~ i ,,~~}}i fq' i((z \t a .r:'` a.. pry': . .r!.J r.
