Thank you for accepting appointment to the Denton Steering Committee to
plan for our community's celebration of the state's 150th annivorsaiy.

with us, lie can learn what the state commission plans to do on a state-wide
basis and how our community can fit into those plans. Randy has pledged to
provide any assistance we request so far as he is able,

Dear Mr. Svehla:
Denton is joining other Texas cities in oel.ebrating our State's Sesquicentennial
- 150 years of history and progress. We invite you to join and be a participant
in this celebration.
The Denton SesquicentenniaL Steoring Committee has planned many outatanding
activities with emphasis on a broad community involvement. Our celebration
will comswnce with a traveling pictorial display of Denton and Denton County
E sponsored by the Altrusa Club, followed by various dinplaya of art, musical f
celebrations, flag ceremony at the Square, parades, Spring Fling, and the
Worth Texas Fair. There will be a variety of exhibits, square dancing, a I
Prijole Fiesta, speoial Juneteenth activities, a multi-othnio week-long I
~l festivity, annual fireworks, and the lung-awaitud Wagon Train (arriving in
j Denton on June 24, 1986), and many othee exciting programs.

The committee has selected speaifio buildings to oomnemorate with a bronze
Sesquicentennial plaque. Wall plaques, and flags designed by DIED students
will bo awarded. A handsome, hard-bound book than will depict Denton'a history
with stories and illustrations in also in preparation.
To more fully describe the celebration activities for next year and to provide
you with the opportunity to give us your input and suggestions to augment our
present program, we invite you to loin tie for, a breakfast at the Ramada Inn at S
` 7100 a.m, on December 11, 1985. We ave grateful to Moore Business Forms for
I hosting this breakfast. One of our committee members will call you to confirm
