After determining that a quurum is present and convening in an open meeting, the City Council
will convene in a Closed Meeting of the City of Denton City Council on Tuesday, May 5, 1998
at 5.45 p.m. in the Council Work Session Room at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney, Denton, Texas,
at which the following items will tM considered:
1. Closed Meeting,
A. Consultation with Attorney-Under TEX. GOV T. CODE See. 551.071
w L Meet with City Attorney to consider stra,egy, discuss status, appointment
of a representative for possible mediation, and possible settlement
authority in litigation styled Denton County lhf lorical bfuseum, Inc. v,
Denton County, Texas and City of Denton, Texas, et af, Cause No. GC-
98.00098-C filed in the Probate Court of Denton County, including, but
not limited to issues related to allegations of breach of contract and
ownership of artifacts,
i B, Conference with Employees-Under TEX. GOVT. CODE Sec. 551.075. The C
Council may receive information from employees or question employees during a staff
conference or briefing, but may not deliberate during the conference.
ANY FINAL ACTION, DECISION, OR VOTE ON A MATTER DELIBERATED IN A

AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY 2,
1998; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HERESY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. The City Council finds and declares that the May 2, 1998 regular municipal
election was duly ordered for the purpose of electing three councilmembers to Places 5, 6, and 7;
that pre -r notice of said election was duly given and election officials appcinted; that the
electic - es daly held and the returns of the election offi:ials have been delivered to the
CourI all in accordance with the laws of the Stale of Texas and the Charier and ordinances of
the City of Denton.

WHEREAS, Euline Brock hastened us Counclimember of the City or Denton since May 1992; and I
WHEREAS, the City of Denlon has been extremely fortunate in having estjoyed the dedicated and outstanding
contributions of Euline Brock, and her efforts io make Denton o better city, and
W HEDEAS, Euline Brock, among her many contributions to the community, has served as Mayor Pro Tem from
May 1994 to May 1995 and May 19% to May 1999, as a member of the city Council Agenda Committee, the Joint Tax
Abatement Committee, the Vision for Denton 21' Century City Council reprtsentativo, and the Convention and Visitors
Bureau Council representative; and
WHEREAS, Euline Brock has always served above and beyond the ellicient discharge of her duties In promoiiq
the aclhre and pt%perily of the City, and has earned the full sespecl of her fellow Councllmembers, colleagues and
citizens of Denton, and the Ion of her services will be keenly feh; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES,
