SUBJECT: Consider adoption of an ordinance amending Ordinance 99-411 calling a bond
election for January 15, 2000 amending Section 13 of said ordinance to change the wording of
Proposition No. 2 for the ballot and providing for an effective date.
BACKGROUND: On November 2nd Council passed the otIglnal ordinance calling for this bond
election. In that ordinance Proposition 2 referred to public facilities improvements. The intent
of that proposition was for funding for the libraries. After discussions with several council
members and the Flue Ribbon Committee, everyone thought that the more approprlate wording
would be Library Facilities instead of public facilities. This wording would more clearly define
the proposition and make foreasier decisions while voting.
RECOMMENDATIO"S: The Blue Ribbon CIP Committee and the staff would recommend
approval
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (Ceunell, Boards, Commission): Original ordinance passed
November 2, 1999.
FISCAL INFORMATION: The bond Issue will still be for the original amount of $34.97

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 99.411 CALLING A BOND ELECTION
FOR JANUARY 15, 2000; AMENDING SEC710N 13 OF SAID ORDINANCE TO CHANGE
THE WORDING OF PROPOSITION NO.2 FOR THE BALLOT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE STATE OF TEXAS

WHEREAS, on November 2, 1999 the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 99-411
calling for a bond election to be held on January 15,1999; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable to amend Section 13 of said ordinance
to change the wording of Proposition No. 2 for the ballot; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Section 13 of Ordinance No. 99.411 is amended in part so that the ballot
for Proposition No. 2 will contain such provisions, markings and language ee required by law,
and will be expressed substantially as follows:

SECTION 2. All other provisions of Ordinance No, 99-411 not in conflict with this
ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall become effective Immediately upon its passage
and approval,
