For modifications to the isolated phase bus duct arrangement to
meet the final design requirements. These revisions required
following receipt of certified manufacturer's shop drawing of the
associated terminal equipment. These :modifications are in
accordance with General'Electric letter dated 9/8/72 from
M. C. Converse, a copy of which is attached and becomes a part I
of this Change Order No. 1
All other terms and conditions of the contract remain unchanged.

Sealed bids will be received by the City of Denton, T,-,(as, at the office
of the Director of Utilities, prior to 2:00 p.m., Sept.cmber 15, 1970
Central Daylight Time, then publicly opened for furnit,-hinp, one isolated
phase bus duct system.
Prospective bidders miiy, examine copies of the specifications at the office
of Black & Veatch, Consulting Engineers, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Kansas
City, Missouri.
Specifications will t e issued only to those bidders who have oeen deter-
mined by the City of Denton, Texas, to be qualified to bid, lA?termina-
tion of a prospective bidder's qualifications will be bssed entirely on
written evidence submitted by the bidder in duplicate to the City aid
the Engineer not later than 21 days before the time set for opening the
bids. Each prospective bidder shall submit evidence that he:
Has adequate plant equipment available to do the work properly
and expeditiously
][as an adequate financial status to meet financial obligations
incident to this work
Has adequate technical knovledglr and practical experience ~
Has no just or
proper claims pending against him on other i

It is desired that the equipment W!fered by the bidder shall be sima.Iar in
size and type to equipment manufactured by him which has been in suuc,~ssful

All bids must be made on printed contract document forms included in the
specifications.
When filed with the Purchasing Agent, each bid shall be accompanied either
by an acceptable bidder's bond, a certified cl,eck, or a cashier's check
on any solvent bank, the amount of which shall be not less than 5 per cent
of the amount of the bid, The bid security sYi.ll be jade payable to the
City Treasurer of the City of Denton, Texas, bid security of the successful
bidders will be returned when their contracts have been signed, filed with,
and approved b; the City. Bid security of unsuccvesful bidders will be
returned or, award of contract or rejection of bids.
No bid may be altered, withdrawn, or resubmitted within 60 days from and
after the elate set for the opening of bids.

the specified materials and equipment are essential to the design and sub-
sequent construction of the entire generating unit. Time is of the essence
in completing each phase of the work so that Unit 5 Addition to the City
of Denton, Texas, Municipal Utilities Plant can be in continuous commercial
operation on or before April 15, 1973,

The Contractor will be required to submit drawings at.l engineering data in
accordance with the schedule, specified under Section 1C - ENGINEERING DATA,
to assure compliance with the overall construction and operating schedule.
Failure of the Contractor to submit drawings and engineering data on or be-
forethe dates specified shall be considered a breach of contract and reason
for termination of contract if the City of Denton, Texas, so desires.
1A.6.2 Manufacturers' Field Services. The Contractor shall provide the
service3 of a manufacturer's field representative. The service representa-
tive shall be technically competent, a direct: employee of the manufacturer, j
factory tretined, experienced in the installation and operation of the speci-
fied equipment, and authorized by the manufacturer to perform the work
stipulated.
The service representative shall provide technical direction and assistance
for the unloading and instaLlation of the equipment end shall inspect the
equipment after installation; assist the Owner's operating personnel in
proper operating and maintenance procedures; and perform other duties re-
quired to obtain proper installation and assure successful operation of
the equipment.
1A.6.3 Instruction Manuals. The Contractor shall furnish 12 complete and
final copies of instruction manuals not later than 30 days prior to ship-
ment of the equipment. The instruction manuals shall cover complete in-
stallation, operating and maintenance instructions, and drawings and parts
lists for each item of equipment furnished. One copy shall be sent to
the Engineer and upon approval thereof, the remaining 11 copies shall be
delivered to the Owner.
The instruction manuals shall be in accordance with the requirements stipula-
ted in.Section 1H.
1A.7 UNIT ADJUSTING PRICE. Unit adjusting prices stated in the Proposal
shall be used to adjust the toted contract sum for additions to or sub-
tractions from the respective linear 3 rase lengths measured in feet
along the bus duct centerline and shown on the drawings. The unit ad-
justment prices shall apply only to additions and subtractions and shall
not be construed as
a basis for lump sum prices stated in the Proposal and
Contract Agreement.

1B,3 U.S. MTERIALS. Equipment and accessories furnished shall be from a
reputable manufacturer currently engaged in production of such materials
within the United States of America.
To the extent possible, materials and equipment (including components
thereof) furnished under these specifications shall be produced, processed,
manufactured, and assembled within the United States of America. All
material and equipment which must necessarily be of foreign manufacture
shall be clearly designated in the Proposal in the space provided for de-
viations and exceptions.
IBA COMPONENT PARTS. Individual parts shall be manufactured to standard
sizes and gauges so that repair parts, furnished at any time, can be in-
stalled in the field. Like parts of duplicate units shall be Interchangea-
ble. Equipment shall rot have been in service at any time prior to de-
livery, except as required by tests.
1B.5 IDERrIFICATION. All correspondence, shipping notices, shop drawings,
specifications, engineering data, and other documents pertaining to the
equipment and materials furnished under these specifications shall be
identified by the NpnerOs name, specification number, and the name of the
item of equipment or material.
1B.6 ImUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND PARTS LISTS. The instruction man-
uals required in Sectior. 1 shall include specifications, drawings, and
description of equipment; install W on instructions; operating instruc-
,,ions; parts lists; and where appliceLble, test data and curves,

date shall also include all nameplate information and shop order numbers
for each iterm of equipment and component part thereof.
The instruction manuals shall contain a table of contents and section
divider: with index tcibs for ease of reference.
1B.7 SKIPPING NDTICF. 'Yhe Contractor shell ntibmit Lwo copies of a ship-
ping notice describing each shdpraent of materiel or equipment. The ship-
ping notice shall be mailed to arrive approximately 3 rlr,,ys ahead of the
estimated shipment arrival.
'The addressees for shipment notices will be determined later.
1B.8 FACTORY ASSEMBLY. Equipment shall be shipped completely factory
assembled unless specified otherwise or unless the physical size, arrange-
ment, or configuration of the equipment, or shipping and handling limita-
tions, make the shipment of completely assembled equipment impracticable,
in which case the equipment shall be assembled and shipped as stated in
the Contractor— Proposal.
All accessory items shall be shipped with the equipment. Boxes and crates
containing accessory items shall be marked so that they are identified
with the main equipment. The contents of the boxes and crates shall also
be indicated.
1B.9 SHOP COATING, Steel and iror surfaces shall be protected by suitable
paint or coatings applied in the shop. Surfaces vhicb vill be inaccessible
after assembly shall be protected for the life of the equipment. Surfaces
shall be cleaned and prepared in the shop. All mill scale, oxides, and
other coatings shall be removed.
Exposed surfaces shall be finished smooth, thoroughly cleaned, and filled
as necessary to provide a smooth uniform base for painting and nainted
with one or more coats of primer and two or more finish coal, A^ alkyd
resin machinery enamel or lacquer as required to produce a ssmn:,th hard
durable finish. Unless specified otherwise, the color of the finish
coats shall be ANS 61 for indoor equipment and ANS (PROPOSED) 15 (Green)
for outdoor equipment.
Two gallons of touch-up paint and one gallon of finish paint used on the
electrical equipment enclosures shall be furnished.
Shop primer for other steel and iron surfacea shall be Inertol 11621

1B.12 CONTROL POWER. Electrical power for control and instrumentation
will be a nominal 120 volt, single phase, 60 hertz, alternating current,
or a nominal 125 volt direct current. The Contractor shall provide any
devices required for proper operation and protection of the equipment
during electrical power supply fluctuations described in the following
paragraphs.
All direct current electrical devices shall be designed for continuous
operation on an ungrounded station battery which will float on trickle
charge at 129 volts. The Contractor shall guarantee vsatisfactory 1operat1on
when the equipment is continuously energized at any tag

printing on the conductor jacket or wiring sleeve, or by other means ap,;roved
by the Engineer. Terminal and conductor identification shall be by a per-
manent method unaffected by heat, solvents, or steam, and not easily dis-
lodged, preferably be means of metal sleeves or printing on the wire packet.
Adhesive labels are not acceptable.
1B.15 CHIPPING REQUIREMENTS. When specified, the mamifacturer shall mount
and ship three impact recorders with the specified equipment. The impact
recorders shall be mounted at the factory to praeide a permanent record of
the magnitude of axial., transverse, and vertical forces to vhich the equip-
ment will be subjected while in transit. The custody of the impart recorders
upon arrival at the plant site shall be the responsibility of the h,anufacturer.
The recorded impact charts shall become part of the furnished equipment.

1C.1 GENERAL. This section covers manufacturer's drawings and other
engineering data which the Contractor shall submit to the Engineer for
design information or approval.
IC.2 CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence forwarding drawings and other engi-
neering data shall be addressed as follows:

1C.3 DRAWINGS. Reproducible mylar transparencies of all manufacturer's
drawings of schematics, wiring, one-line and three-line diagrams, and
arrangements and views of all control or relay panels shall be furnished.

prior to final acceptance.
When changes in the equipment are made in the field to correct shop con-
struction errors or to adapt the equipment to the Owner's requirements,
the Contractor shall prepare and submit eight copies of record drawings

1C.4 SCHEDULES. All outline drawings, tine-line diagrams, control sche-
matic diagrams for operating mechanisms, and other drawings which show
details required by the Engineer for design of structures and wiring,

120 days after award of contract.

The generator, power potential transformer, and the sury,ry protection and
potential transformer equipment have been purchased under a separate con-
tract from General Electric Company. The name of the transformer manu-
facturer will be furnished later.
2A.2 CODES AND STANDARDS. DS' , All equipment furnished under these specifi-
cations shall conform to applicable standards of ANSI, NF MA,
these specifications.
2A.3 ARRANGEMEN The arrangement and location in the plant of the
isolated ph u`stem is shown on Drawing E-4904-06o17o-1 included
with these specifications.

2A.5.1 isolated Phase Bus Duct. Isolated phase bus duct as sh mi on ~i
the drawings shall be provided as a complete sectionalised assembly of
rigid insulator supported conductors housed in individual phase enclo-
sures and constructed in 3 phase units on structural steel supporting
members.
2A.5.1.1 Bus. The bus conductor shall be high conductivity aluminum
with welded point aluminum shape provided with expansion Joints to pre-
vent undesirable or destructive mechanical strains in the bus supports
or connections through a full ambient temperature range from m`_nus 30 C
to plus 50 C. Heavy-duty porcelain insulators shall be used for bus
supports within the enclosures.
The bus shall be designed to permit removal of transformer and generator
bushings with a minimum of bus disassembly.
2A.5.1.2 Bus Enclosure. The bus enclosure shall be fabricated from
nonmagnetic metal. Each phase shall be enclosed in a weathertight and
dusttight housing of welded construction designed for either indoor or
outdoor installation. A sufficient number of inspection windm*t% shall.
be provided in each enclosure to allow inspection of the bus etn,3 interior
oi' the enclosure.
Individual phase terminal enclosures shall be provided for all bus duct
terminal connections to equipment.
Filter-type drain plugs shall be furnished in the enclosures at low
points for drainage of condensation.
Enclosures shall be furnished with provisions for dry air pressurizing
to 1/2 inch of water pressure without excessive air flow (2 cfkn) to
prevent infiltration of dust.
One connection point for air supply and one connection for motering shall
1.)u furnished in each phase bus duct on the top side of he indoor hori-
zontal run. Provisions to pressurize the outdoor section of each bus
duce shall be included. All connection points shall be 112 inch NPT,
coupling type, and shall be plugged for shipping.
One-ha',f inch NPT nipples with caps shall be furnished on the bottom side
of the outdoor horizontal run of each phase bus duct enclosure at the
generator transformer.
The enclosure shall be electrically bonded to minimize induced currents
in the surrounding metal structures. Expansion joints shall, ba provided
in the enclosure as required to prevent undesirable or destructive mechani-
cal expansion and contraction strains through an ambient tEOiperature range
from minus 30 C to plus 50 C.

The manufacturer shall state in his proposal that low resistance shield-
ing bands "Amortisseur" bands will or will not be required in structural
steel in the vicinity of the bus dact, and if needed shall include state-
ments describing to what extent they are required.
2A.5.1.3 Connections, Terminations, and Fittings. All materials re-
quired for complete bus duct installation shall be furnished. This shall
include and not be limited to flexib.l9 connectors, connectors for generator
vibration and expansion fittings, fasteners, support plate for main bus
wall penetration, ground bus, and copper to aluminum connectors as re-
quired. Seal-off bushings or other acceptable equipment shall be fur-
nished for the transition from the indoor portion to the outdoor portion
of the isolated phasa bus duct and for carrying the connections through
the building wall. A metal flange shall be welded to each duct enclosure
at the building wall entrance loca'A on to permit flashing into the build-
ing wall.
The terminations of the bus and buts enclosure at generator, main auxiliary
transformer, surge protection and potential transformer enclosure, power
potential transformer, and the generator transformer shall be coordinated
with the terminals and flanges boing supplied by the manufacturers of the
respective equipment in regard to temperature stresses, mechanical stresses,
and connections. All special housings, fittings, materials, and devices
shall be supplied as required for *.,;,::Action to the bus enclosures to ter-
minal flanges and of the bus to the respective equipment terminals.
Flexible connections shall be provided at each transformer to allow at
least one inch of movement in any direction. The connections to the main
auxiliary transformer shall be readily accessible removable links so that
the transformer may be easily isolated from the generator bus duct.
A minimum clearance of 12 inches shall be provided between the end of'
the bus and the equipment terminals when flexible connections are re-
moved from the terminals of generator, main transformer and the auxiliary
transformer.
Bus and enclosure joints designed to prevent the transmission of generator
vibrations into the main section of the bus duct shall be provided where
the bus duct leaves the generator foundation.
Isolation barriers or baffle bushings shall be provided at the generator
end of the bus duct to prevent hydrogen from leaking into the bus duct
from the generator. All spaces isolated by barriers or baffle bushings
at the generator end of the bus duct, shall be; ventilated by filtered
openings in the enclosure wall.
A ground bus shah be provided the full length of the isolated phase bus
duct system.

2A.5.1.4 Mounting. The bus duct shall be furnished with all necessary
supporting members.
Outdoor bus duct shall bit supported by rigid self-supporting members
including duct mounting beams and i:ackets as required to support the
bus duct. Moment connections shall be utilized to provide rigid struc-
tures. The use of angle raembers for bracing will not be acceptable.
Owner's fire wall structure shall be incorporated in the support
system,

All indoor bus duct supporting members shall be designed for support from
the building steel or from concrete inserts furnished by the Owner.
All supporting members and hardware shall be designed and assembled to
prevent the transmission of bus duct and supporting member weight forces
to transformer, generator, or surge and potential equipment enclosures,
All outdoor supports and fittings for steel fabrication shall be hot-
dilped galvanized after fabrication. All inside supports and fittings
shall be primed and finished painted in accordance with Section 1B.
Desigo of supporting structures shall be subject to the approval of the
Engineer. Point loads transmitted to the Engineer's steel and founds-
tions shall be furnished on bus duct drawings submitted for approval.
The successful bidder shall coordinate his supporting steel with the
Owner's building steel.

2A.5.1.5 Assemb and Testa. Each section shall be completely assem-
bled to insure that component parts will fit properly. Where it is
impractical to assemble the cowplete bus duct in the factory, adjacent
sections shall ~e matched with templates to assure positive alignment
and fit when than bus duct is assembled in the field.
The bus duct and associated equipment shall be tested after assembly
under rated conditions in accordance with the ANS UF.20. The Owner
reserves the right to witness tests. The manufacturer shall provide
not less than 2 weeks of advance notice of the scheduled testa.
Three copies of all test reports shall be submitted to the Engineer.
2A.5,1.6 Shti in Requirements. In addition to the requirements speci-
fied in Section 1B the bus duet shall be assembled and shipped as spec-
ified in the following par Mraphs.
Outdoor bus duct shall be delivered to the job site assembled in the
largest grids practical for shipment.

Indoor bus duot must be moved through the Owner's building entrance doors
and hoisted into place. Therefore this part of the duct shall be assembled
in the largest grid sizeb consistent with these requirements. Theed
limiting grid requirements will be furnished to coordinate with the manu-
facturer at a later date.
Shipping grids for all bus ducts shall be clearly inQir;rsted on bus duct
drawings submitted for approval.
The manufacturer shall take every precaution to preverif, damc4e to the bus
duct in transit. All bus, enclosures, and supporting atce, shall be
braced to prevent damage to insulators and supports.
Impact recorders shall be provided with the equipment in accordarce with
Section 1B of these specifications.
