All correspondence, shipping notices, shop drawings, specifications, engineering data, and other documents pertaining to the equipment and materials furnished under these specifications shall be identified by the Owner's name, specification number, and the name of the item of equipment or material 18.6 MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND PARTS LISTS. The instruction man- uals required in Section IA shall include specifications, drawings, and description of equipment; installation instructions; operating Instruc- tions; parts lists; and where applicable, test data and curves. Meiiuale shall be assembled and bound in Buchan Type ORL (old style) binders covered with pyroxylin impregnated buckram covers, manufactured by Buchan Loose Leaf Records Co., Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania. Each binder cover shall be stamped with the proper identi- fication as shown on Sheet P-802.02 bound at the end of this section. The instruction manuals shall contain a table of contents and section dividers with index tabs for ease of reference. 1B.7 SHIPPING NOTICE. The Contractor shall submit two copies of a ship- ping notice describing each shipment of material or equipment. The ship- ping notice shall be mailed to arrive approximately 3 days ahead of the estimated shipment arrival. The addressees for shipment notices will be determined later. 1B.8 FACTORY ASSEMBLY. Equipment shall be shipped completely factory assembled unless specified otherwise or unless the physical size, arrange- ment, or configuration of the equipment, or shipping and handling limita- tions, make the shipment of completely assembled equipment impracticable, in which case the equipment shall be assembled and shipped as stated in the Contractor's Proposal. All accessory items shall be shipped with the equipment. Boxes and crates containing accessory items shall be marked so that they are identified with the main equipment. The contents of the boxes and crates shall also be indicated. s 1B.9 SHOP COATING. Steel and iron surfaces shall be protected by suitable paint or coatings applied in the shop. Surfaces which will be inaccessible after assembly shall be protected for the life of the equipment. Surfaces shall be cleaned and prepared in the shop. All mill scale, oxides, and. other coatings shall be removed. Exposed surfaces shall be `finished smooth, thoroughly cleaned, and filled as necessary to provide a smooth uniform base for painting and painted with one or more coats of primer and two or more finish coats of alkyd resin machinery enamel or lacquer as required to produce a smooth hard durable finish. Unless specified otherwise, the color of the finish coats shall be ANS 61 for indoor equipment and ANS (PROPOSED) 15 (Green) for outdoor equipment. Two gallons of tov:h-up paint and one gallon of finish paint used on the electrical equipment enclosures shall be furnished. All equipment shall be boxed, crated, or otherwise suitably protected during shipment, handling, and sLornge. Surfaces which are damaged during shipment shall be re- paired by the Contractor, Returnable containers and special shipping devices shall be returned by the manufacturer's field representative at the Contractor's expense. 1B.11 CORRECTION OF MANUFACTURING ERRORS. Equipment and materials shall be complete in all respects within the limits herein outlined. All manu- facturing errors or omissions required to be corrected in the field shall be done by the Contractor or his duly authorized representative. 1B.12 CONTROL POWER. Electrical power for control and instrumentation will be a nominal 120 volt, single phase, 60 hertz, alternating current, or a nominal 125 volt direct current. The Contractor shall provide any devices required for proper operation and protection of the equipment during electrical power supply fluctuations described '.n the following paragraphs. All direct current electrical devices shall be designed for continuous operation on an ungrounded station battery which will float on trickle charge at 129 volts. The Contractor shall guarantee satisfactory operation when the equipment is continuously energized at any voltage from 100 to 140 %vlts direct current, with ambient temperatures as specified. Electrical devices served from this supply shall not impose any ground connections on it. All alternating current devices shall, unless otherwise specified, be de- signed for operation on a nominal 120 volt, 60 hertz, single phase, alterna- ting current system. The Contractor shall guar,-t,ee satisfactory operation when the equipment is continuously energized at uay voltage from 105 to 130 volts alternating current. All alternating current and direct current devices shall be guaranteed to operate satisfactorily under voltage conditions specified in the above paragraphs and at 50 C ambient temperature. 1B.13 RACEWAY. The motor control center shall be one or more vertical sections, each nominally 20 inches deep, 20 inches wide, and 90 inches high, joined together to form a complete enclosed assembly. Each section shall accommodate not more than six Size 1 or Size 2 combination magnetic starters. All starter and control units shall be readily interchangeable with units of the same type and size. All units except Size 5 starters and 400 ampere or larger feeder circuit protective devices shall be automatically discon- nected and connected to the bus as the units are removed or replaced in the section structure. All individual unite shall be isolated from each other by metal barriers when the units are aspembled in the operating position and when the units are removed or replaced in the section etrue- ture. Size 5 starters anC feeder circuit protective devices 400 ampere and larger shall have fixed mounting within the section. 2A.5.1.4 Spare. Units designated as "Spare" shall be furnished complete with guide rails, separator bars, loors, and all operating hardware re- quired to permit completion by the addition of the drawout Ftarter unit or feeder breaker unit. Blank ecver plates zw y be substituted for doors provided no additional charge is made for these doors when units are added at a later date, Units designated as "Equipped Spare" shall be furnished as described for "Spare", and, in addition, shall include starter unit, breaker unit, and compartment doors where cover plates were provided. 2A.5.1.5 Space, Blank unassigned spaces shall bo complete with vertical bus and removable covers in rear, but shall not include stab-ins, frame- work, etc. 2A.5.1.6 Future Additions. The ends of each end vertical section shall be arranged to allow the future installation of similar sections and all sections shall be arranged to allow the removal, addition, interchange, or replacement of individual units as may be required. 2A.5.2 Bus. All motor control center bus shall bo provided as specified and according to the following paragraphs. 2A.5,2.1 Bus Material. Bus material may be either silver-plated copper or silver-plated aluminum as specified. When silver-plated aluminum bus is epecified, the Contractor shall provide with hie proposal all infor- mation necessary to clearly indicate the methods of plating, metals, thickness and deta,11s of fabrication of bus and all current carrying ,points. 2A•5.2.2 BLS Supports. The bus supports shall be formed of a molded compound which shall have high dielectric strength, low moisture absorp- tion, high impact strength, and a high creepage surface. They shall be able to withstand the stresses imposed by short circuit current values equal to those previously specified for bus rating. The main bus shall be isolated from the horizontal wiring trough by means of removable steel barriers. The vertical bus shall be isolated from the starters by means of sheet steel barriers. 2A.5.3 Terminals. All incoming line, ground, and loa,l conductor terminal connectors shall be provided. The connectors shall Lo bolted clamp type. Load terminal connectors shall be sized according to the capacity of the control device. Ground terminal connectors shall be 1/0 AWG to 300 Mcm for connection of the ground or neutral bus to the external grounding system and shall be according to the capacity of the control device for connection of load ground conductors to the motor control center ground or neutral bus. Incoming line connectors shall be equivalent to Burndy VVA--2. 2A•5.3.1 Conductor Ent_remce. Provisions shall be made for incoming line, load feeder, and control circuit conductor entrance as specified. Where the incoming line is specified to be a bus duct or a throat connec- tion, all required flanges, flexible connectors, bolting, material, con- ductors, and coordination shall be provided for complete connections. Where junction boxes are required they shall be approximately 12 inches high designed and fabricated of sheet steel to match, line up with, and attach to any vertical section. One box shall be furnished separate with each three vertical sections for field installation by others as directed by the Engineer. The junction boxes will be used to terminate cable tray. 2A.5.4 Circuit Breaker Branch Circuit Protection. Each unit, when specified, shall include one 3pst~ , volt, molded case air circuit breaker with specified interrupting rating. Breakers shall bear the label of Underwriters Laboratories, and shall be manually operated with quick-make, quick-break, trip-free mechanism of the toggle type. The manual operating handle shall indicate when the breaker has tripped automatically. The breakers shall be equipped with suitable arc quenching devices. Main current carrying contacts shall be silver-plated and shall be capable of carrying their rated current without exceeding the Underwriters Labora- tories specified temperature rise. Feeder circuit breakers shall be thermal magnetic trip with the bimetal- lic thermal elements capable of withstanding sustained overload and short circuit currents without injury and without affecting the calibration of the bimetallic element. The thermal elements shall have inverse time characteristics. The instantaneous elements sh,11 trip the breaker at the minimum standard trip setting. Two 100 ampere frame feeder breakers shall be mounted in the space required for one Size 1 or Size 2 starter. One breaker shall be mounted in the space required for one Size 2 or Size 3 starter when larger breakers are specified.
