CITY OF DENTON CITY COUNCIL
July 2, 2012
After determining that a quonim is present, the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas will
convene in a Special Called Meeting on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the City Council
Chambers at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas at which the following items
will be considered:
1. Pledge of Allegiance
A. U.S.FIag
B. Texas Flag
"Honor the Texas Flag — I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and
indivisible."
2. Consider adoption of an ordinance canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the
Runoff Municipal Election held in the city of Denton on June 23, 2012.
3. Oath of Office adnunistered to newly elected Council Members.
4. Election of Mayor Pro Tempore.

BACKGROUND
Adoption of this ordinance will formally canvass the election returns of the ninoff
election for a Council Member in Place 5 and a Mayor in Place 7 held on June 23, 2012.

TI�E RUNC}FF MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD 1N THE CITY OF DENTON ON JUN� 23,
2012.
THE COUNCIL O�' THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAIN�:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds and declares that the June 23, 2012 �•unaff municipal
election was duly ardered for t�e purpose of electin� a Council Member ta Place 5 and a Mayor to
Plaee 7; Ehat proper notice of said election was duly given and election officials appointed; that said
election was duly held and the re�rns af the election officials have been deiivared to the Couneil,
ali in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas a��d the Chai�er ant! ordinances of the City of
De�ton.
