RESOLUTION NO. �013-006
A RESOLUTION CREATING AN AD-HOC CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO
ADVISE THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF: GOALS; STRATEGIES;
OBJECTIVES; AND GROWTH SCENARIOS FOR THE DENTON PLAN UPDATE AND
THE COMPOSITION OF SUCH A CITIZEN COMMITTEE; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEARAS, the City Council adopted a Community Vision Statement and Planning
Policies on Apri17, 1998; and
WHEREAS, on December 7,1999, the City of Denton adopted the Denton Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Denton Plan sets a framework for planning and strategy development for
the entire City of Denton; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that an update to the Comprehensive
Plan is necessaxy to guide future decision-making related to growth and development of the
Denton community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is advisable to create an Ad-hoc
Citizen Advisory Committee to advise the City Council on the recommended amendments to
the Denton Plan
WHEREAS, the City Council of Denton has determined that it is advisable that the Ad-
hoc Citizen Advisory Committee shall be dissolved upon the completion of the worlc as
outlined below; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. A Citizen Advisory Committee shall be appointed to consider and advise
the City Council of Denton in what manner to revise the Denton Plan.
SECTION 2. The Citizen Advisory Committee shall be appointed by the City Council
and shall be comprised of the following members:

The Citizen Advisory Committee will be provided clearly defined responsibilities and
consent to a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson to make decisions and move the process
forward. The Citizen Advisory Committee will also be briefed on the Denton Plan, its
importance, and how it has and will continue to shape land-use decision malcing in the City.
The Committee shall perform its functions in accordance with the intent of this Resolution.
SECTION 3. The charge of the Citizen Advisory Committee will be to: act in an advisory
role to Council; represent broad community interests; model community consensus and
encourage others to participate; promote citizen ownership / ensure "buy-in"; guide development
of Vision Statement, Alternative Scenarios, and Strategic Directions; and champion the
Comprehensive Plan.
SECTION 4. During the Denton Plan update process, there will be considerable input
received from the public which will be reviewed and synthesized into objective goals for City
Council's consideration. The CAC will receive this input and offer their recommendations on
which goals should move forward and be included in the update to the Denton Plan.
SECTION 5. All Committee meetings shall be open to the public.
SECTION 6. The Committee shall be dissolved upon completion of the work set forth in
this resolution.
SECTION 7. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
