CITY OF DENTON CITY COUNCIL
May 21, 2013
The City of Denton City Council will convene in the Worlc Session Room on Tuesday, May 21,
2013 at 5:30 p.m. to attend a reception honoring City Council.
After deternuning that a quonim is present, the City of Denton City Council will convene in a
Regular Meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall,
215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas at which the following items will be considered:
1. Pledge of Allegiance
A. U. S. Flag
B. Texas Flag
"Honor the Texas Flag — I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible."
2. Consider adoption of an ordinance canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the
Regular Municipal Election to elect four City Council Members to Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4
of the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas held in the city of Denton on May 11,
2013; and providing an effective date.
3. Consider adoption of an ordinance canvassing the returns and declaring the results of an
election held in the city of Denton on May 11, 2013 allowing the City of Denton to own,
acquire, constnict, maintain, and operate a gas utility in order to provide gas utility
services to non-residential customers in that area of the City near the Airport Industrial
Parlc and bounded by the embracement of C. Wolfe Road, Jim Christal Road, Thomas J.
Egan Road, U. S. Highway 380, Interstate Highway 35, Interstate Highway 35 West,
John Paine Road, F.M Highway 2449, and Tom Cole Road, and providing an effective
date.
4. Oath of Office adnunistered to newly elected Council Members.
5. Resolution of Appreciation for Chris Watts.

AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
THE REGULAR MUNiCIPAL ELECTION TD ELECT FOUR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
TO DISTRICTS l, 2, 3, AND 4 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON,
TEXAS HELD ZN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY 11, 2013; AND PROVIDiNG AN
�FFECTIVE DATE.
THE COUNCiL O� THE CITY OF DENT4N H�REBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Ti�e City Council �nds and declares that the May ll, 20i3 regular
municipal election was duly ordered for the purpose of electing Council Members to Districts l,
2, 3, and 4; that proper notice of said electian was duly given and election officials appointed;
that the election was duly held and the returns of the election officials have been delivered ta the
Council, all in accordance with the laws of the State o1F Texas and the Charter and ordinances of
the City of Denton.
SECTION 2. The afficial returns of the electian officials having been opened, examin�d,
and canvassed, and the Council hereby %nds and declazes that 2,385 ballots were cast at #he
electian, and that the votes cast for each District on fhe Council were as follows;
