RESOLUTION NO, R2015 -001
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO
EXPEND TWO HUNDRED THIRTY -FIVE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED SEVENTEEN
DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS ($235,217.50) OF AIRPORT FUNDS TO SUPPLEMENT A
GRANT SUPPORTED IMPROVEMENT TO THE DENTON ENTERPRISE AIRPORT
TERMINAL; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Denton City Council approved Resolution R2013 -016 on July
16, 2013 to make certain improvements to Denton Enterprise Airport for the purpose of
providing enhanced service for the aviation community; and
WHEREAS, the project is described as: Construction of a building module for the
Airport terminal containing approximately 1,500 square feet of meeting space; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton accepted financial assistance from the Texas Department
of Transportation in the form of a grant for project costs not to exceed $500,000, fifty percent
(50 %) of which were to be funded as the sponsor's share by the City of Denton; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton named the Texas Department of Transportation as its
agent for the purposes of applying for, receiving and disbursing all funds for these improvements
and for the administration of contracts necessary for implementation of these improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Architectural /Engineering design for the project includes additional
improvements to enhance the operation and future expansion of the Denton Enterprise Airport
Terminal, which improvements are to be funded by the City of Denton as Sponsor of the grant
supported improvement; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. The City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to execute on
behalf of the City of Denton, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of
this governing body, all contracts and agreements with the State of Texas, represented by the
Texas Department of Transportation, and such other parties as shall be necessary and appropriate
for the implementation of the improvements to the Denton Enterprise Airport.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to expend Two
Hundred Thirty -Five Thousand Two Hundred Seventeen Dollars and Fifty Cents ($235,217.50)
from the Airport Fund 2014 -15 Budget to supplement the original project funding of Five
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000) for the purpose of constructing improvements to enhance
the operation and future expansion of the Denton Enterprise Airport Terminal as authorized by
Resolution No. R2013 -016 passed on July 16, 2013.
