HomeMy WebLinkAboutR2015-012s: \legal \our documents \reso1utions \15 \res tap grant 2015.doc RESOLUTION NO, 82015 -012 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, AS DENTON'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE, TO ACCEPT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF DENTON AN OFFER FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (TxDOT) RELATING TO A GRANT FOR ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION OF A SHARED USE PATH ON WESTERN BOULEVARD; CONFIRMING AGREEMENT TO PAY A PORTION OF THE TOTAL PROJECT COST; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Denton, Texas intends to make certain improvements to the City of Denton Bicycle and Pedestrian infrastructure; and WHEREAS, the general description of the project is engineering and construction of a 10 foot shared use path on Western Boulevard from University to Airport Road as shown in Attachment 1 hereto which is made a part hereof (the "Project "); and WHEREAS, the City of Denton, Texas intends to request financial assistance from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the Project; and WHEREAS, The City of Denton supports funding this project as described in the TAP 2015 Nomination Form, to include construction budget, TxDOT's 15- percent administrative costs, and the required local match; and WHEREAS, the City of Denton is willing to commit to the project's development, implementation, construction, maintenance, management, and financing; and WHEREAS, the project sponsor is willing and able to enter into an agreement with the department by resolution or ordinance should the project receive TAP funding; and WHEREAS, the total Project costs are estimated to be $600,000, and the City of Denton be responsible for 20% of the total Project cost, said 20% currently estimated to be $120,000 for engineering and construction in Fiscal Year 2016; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The City of Denton, Texas hereby directs the City Manager, or his designee, to execute on behalf of the City of Denton, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of this governing body, all contracts and agreements with the State of Texas, represented by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and such other parties s: \legal \our documents \reso1utions \15 \res tap grant 2015.doc as shall be necessary and appropriate for the implementation of the Project and related improvements to the Bicycle and Pedestrian infrastructure.
