RESOLUTION NO. R2016-015
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TE�iAS,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DENTON TO SIGN A NOTICE OF NON-
REN�WAL OF A CERTAIN EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY MANAGER,
GEORGE CAMPBELL, AND TO ISSUE SUCH NOTICE TO GEORGE CAMPBELL;
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR THE NEARLY TEN YEARS OF DEDICATED
SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP OF CITY MANAGER GEORGE CAMPBELL TO THE CITY
OF DENTON ORGANIZATION AND TO THE COMMUNITY; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, City Manager George Campbell has had a distinguished career of over forty
years in public service and has honorably served the great City of Denton as City Manager since
November l, 2006; and
WHEREAS, George Campbell has, since November 2006, demonstrated leadership and
managerial skills that have enhanced the opportunities for the City Council to develop grawth
strategies for Denton that accommodate both current and future residents; and
WHEREAS, George Campbell has provided leadership in the enhancement of programs of
the City as well as establishing a standard of excellence for future administrations to emulate; and
WHEREAS, George Campbell has developed programs internal to the City and in
conjunction with the City Council to establish strategic planning goals, staff development and
mentoring programs leading to successful succession opportunities for current and developing
prafessional employees and managers; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton and George Campbell have entered into an Employment
Agreement, which Agreement expires on September 30, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton desires to take this opportunity to move farward in a
direction that will build upon George Campbell's administration and therefore determines to issue
a Notice of Non-renewal of its Employment Agreement to Campbell; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the issuance of a Notice of Non-renewal of its
Employment Agreement with Campbell is in the public interest; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION l. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are
incorporated into the body of this Resolution.
SECTION 2. The City Council expresses its sincere appreciation to George Campbell far
his nearly 10 years of service to the City.

SECTION 3. The City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City of Denton to sign
a Notice of Non-renewal of its Employment Agreement with Mr. Campbell in substantially the
form as attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and to issue same to Campbell,
SECTION 4. In the event George Campbell revokes or repudiates that certain
Professional Consulting Services Agreement, Waiver, and Release Concerning Employment, on
or before June 29, 2016, then this Resolution and Exhibit "A", as issued, are invalid and void
without further action of the City Council.
SECTION 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and

Dear Mr. Campbell:
On October 5, 2010 an Employment Agreement was executed between you and the City of
Denton. This agreement was amended on May 5, 2016 and expires on September 30, 2016.
Section 3B of the Agreement, as amended, provides, in part, " Unless the Council — at least 30
days before the expiration of any Extended Term once commenced — gives the Employee written
notice of nonrenewal, the terms of the Agreement shall automatically renew for an additional
Extended Term."
Pursuant to Section 3B of the said Agreement, you are hereby notified that the City Council of
the City of Denton has determined and directed that the said Agreement shall not be renewed
upon its expiration on September 30, 2016.
